Cape wedding venue recs

Hi everyone!
My fiance and I are thinking of getting married this summer on the Cape, however, I didn't grow up in MA and don't know much about that area. We've been given a lot of names of places to check out, but I was wondering if anyone had any first-hand tips on where to check out, where to avoid, things you've run into with venues that you weren't expecting...that sort of thing. Thank you so much! :)

You can find anything your looking for on the cape, the biggest thing that seperates the venues is $$. You can find nice places with no site fee at like $35 per person, all the way up to expensive site fees and $30,000 minimums. Vendors on the cape tend to be a little more limited, so Id recommend planning everything as far in advance as possible(I did a 2 years engagement and I started booking vendors a year and a half ahead) Hope this helps, If you give me a prices range or an idea of what type of location your looking for maybe I can be better help!

Check out the knottie list at the top and it has places where we are all getting married. My venue is the Coonamessett Inn and rehearsal is the Flying Bridge, same owners & great business people. You can have a wedding at both places. Website isn't great but worth checking out.

My runner up was the Seacrest Resort. It is a beautiful setting right on the beach but the lady was extremely rushed when we went for our meeting, if she was nice we prob would have booked there.

    Good luck!

I am getting married at the Sea Crest in July. I have met with Kathleen three times and she has always had more than enough time to spend with us. It may have been an off day for her when you met with her @lisaremmes. The Sea Crest is having a complete renovation done as we speak, and it will be completed by the end of May. If you are looking for an oceanfront venue, it is absolutely gorgeous! They have many different options for food and are really willing to work with your requests. I just wanted to give another point of view, because we have been very happy with them so far.

Have you looked into the Navigator in Falmouth? A lot of people dont even know its there. It has a banquet room with a dance floor but also has a white tent over the patio in the summer. Just a thought....

I highly recommend The Flying Bridge. They have been AWESOME to work with. They also own Coonamesset, which is also beautiful, but has a different feel to the venue. That's more ballroom style, where The Flying Bridge is a more casual Cape-Coddish feel to it, and its right on the water. And the pricing was the best we found for any nice formal cape cod venue. We had one heck of a time trying to find a venue on the water that was budget friendly, and they are exactly what we want!!

If you're looking for a luxury wedding, check out Wychmere Beach Club, Wequassett Resort and Chatham Bars Inn. All are amazing and have fab planners to work with.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Flying Bridge and brunch after the wedding at Cooneamessett and they would really great for both. Our wedding was at Ballymeade in North Falmouth, which was just abosolutely perfect for us. It's very 'Cape Cod' and on a golf course, which was a must for my husband. The nice thing is you can bring in your own catering, which can help a lot with costs. I would say it was somewhere in the middle price wise all told. Christine, the venue coordinator, was fantastic to work with and made sure everythign went perfectly the day of.

    Other places we looked at:
Ocean Edge in Brewster: SO beautiful, but way too pricey for us
New Seabury CC in Mashpee, our second runner up. More of your typicial ballroom setting, but still very pretty.

Also the Ridge Club in Sandwich is great... And the Falmouth Yacht club for a casual deal...

maybe you should tell us what your style is before we send you in a thousand directions...

how many people, how many out of towners, what kind of budget ( a big one)

Congrats! We looked at venues all over the Cape and Newport, RI. We ended up choosing Ocean Edge because aside from the venue being insanely GORGEOUS even in blustery cold, snowy conditions. After about 100 questions, Kimberly, our planner answered every one and stayed pleasant in the process. Also, they didn't have a minimum for the Linx Pavilion which was nice since we are having a small wedding. We also looked at New Seabury, Wequasset, Wychmere, Chatam Bars and Ocean Edge.

For my other vendors, I so far have been able to get pretty much everyone that I want. It could also help that my wedding is on a Sunday.

    Hope this helps.

I also booked my wedding at Ocean Edge.  I am getting married in the Bay Pines Pavilion.  I really wanted a classic Cape wedding with a tent, but my fiance and parents were worried about the weather, so this was the perfect option for us.  Most of our guests are staying there too so we are able to do lots of great activities and the guys get to golf on their course which I think was the biggest selling point for my FI.  I am working with Megan (which is funny bc we have the same name :) ) and she has been GREAT too - she created a totally customized package for us that fit our budget and still gave us everything we were looking for.

I've also heard good things about the woods Hole Golf Club - I was considering having my wedding there but ultimately chose MV - their prices were really reasonable - starting at $45 a head or so...Michael Fay was really helpful - they are very booked for this summer though so I'd look into that soon - it's on the water...the Highfield Hall is also a great venue as well but you have to bring in a caterer, rent tables, etc - they were very booked too when I looked about a month ago...it's also in the woods so doesn't feel very Capey. Chatham Bars Inn and Wequasset Inn are beautiful but very, very pricey...another choice might be the Eastward Ho! Yacht Club in Chatham - however, I think they only had Sundays available until October. Ocean Edge is nice but I have seen some not so great reviews from people who had weddings there - it's on the water and the mansion is stunning but they do a lot of weddings - which could be a good or bad thing depending! Brewster is also very quiet...personally, I prefer Chatham or Falmouth - a little more going on outside the wedding venue.  We have a summer house on Falmouth and I checked out a lot of wedding venues over the past few years so am happy to weigh in.

We are betting married at Old Sea Pines Inn this summer and they have been great with us. we are paying for all of it by ourselves, and they are really affordable. We are also getting married on a Sunday, so that made things even cheaper for us. They completely take care of you and it is in Brewster. It's an old mansion but it's so quaint and you could totally do a Cape Cod theme wedding there. :) Good luck - I hope you find something for this summer becausse people start very early!

Do you happen to know if you can have the reception outside in a tent at Sea Crest?
    Thanks

We booked our reception at New Seabury Country Club (Mashpee). Sadly our initial meeting at Ocean Edge did not go well, which may have just been an unlucky fluke, but enough for us to want to look elsewhere. However, we couldn't be more pleased with how things have worked out with New Seabury. The management has been wonderful so far, and very prompt and helpful with their replies. The view from the outside deck area is beautiful as well, overlooking two beautiful golf courses, and nantucket sound. There are two options for dinner, either stations (the "grand reception" which also includes a lot of butler passed hor'deouvres, and raw bar, etc.) or plated sit down. The minimums were also very reasonable. Also just one wedding at a time, which I also appreciated.

We also really liked the Coonamessett, but the grounds and view at New Seabury kind of sealed the deal for us!

    Good luck in your search!

If you have a smaller budger and you're not looking for somewhere super formal or fancy, check out Harbor Point Restaurant in Barnstable. It has a great view over a marsh towards the ocean and even a small outdoor deck/pool area if you are having a summer wedding. There's also a cute beach a few minutes down the road if you want to take photos there. Prices are around $35 a person, and even  less if you have it on a Sunday or Friday. The decor is currently a little outdated (think pastel looking floral wallpaper), but it is being renovated in the next month (presumably it will be more contemporary and new looking after!)  I get married there next month and so far I've had a good experience with it.
