Here's the first project that I tackled since I started back up with my wedding decor planning. It's one of many projects using vintage items that we have. I'm hoping to get more done today.
Ok, so this is a really rough and quick version of one of our decor ideas. This desk was Chris's grandfather's (who is still living), and I think it's awesome. We had to take the drawers out because they were full of stuff, but we will be putting them back in and putting things in some of them and leaving them open. I had Chris clear it off and we both carried it into the house from the giant garage (Chris's dads' automotive workshop). So it's set up in our bedroom covered with all kinds of jars and vases. The containers that are on it aren't the ones I'll be using, but that's what I could find in the few minutes that I decided to put it together. We're going to use old bottles, wine glasses, champagne flutes, snifters, and etc. to put dark red and dark purple flowers in. We're also going to use chocolate mint from our garden in some because they are a pretty dark green color with purple on the back of the leaves, and they smell delicious. We're not sure what color candles we're going to use, I just used what I had on hand. I also used one of our skeleton keys tied to one of the jars and an ace of spades card that I saved from a deck of cards that our daughter destroyed.
Things I'll be putting in the vases:Deep red dahlias...hopefully
Deep purple flowers from our garden...hopefully
Other deep red and deep purple flowers from local flower suppliers or gardens
peacock feathers
rooster tail feathers
branches
dried flowers (like the weird spiky ones in the pictures)
Here's the inspiration pictures...The desk is quite different from the inspiration pictures, but we use what we've got...ya know?
