Flowers

Are corsages necessary?

I am the mother of the bride and do not wanttowear a corsage or carry any flowers so.......would it be wrong to have flowers only for those in the wedding party?

I think that would be fine but if your daughter really wants you to have flowers, pin it on your purse.  Sometimes little things can really stress out a bride just before the wedding (no matter how small or silly) so if you see it's stressing her just take them and when you get to the reception set the flowers on the table.

If you don't want them, of course you don't have to wear or carry flowers.  Often brides are just wanting to have them because it's traditional, to honor you, or to set you apart from other guests as special.

Just reassure your DD that you find them annoying/unnecessary, and everyone will know you are the MOB.  I had a corsage for my DD's wedding, her wedding day was so hectic for me, I totally forgot to put it on!  Didn't even miss it until later.  No one else noticed either.

Thanks for your opinions. I talked it over with my MIL ( my mom passed away last year) and we decided NO flowers for us.
