Do I remember correctly you saying that if you have a players card you can do a self check in at a kiosk and get the key at the bell desk or am I dreaming this?

Re: @vegasgroom.......flamingo

  • it's true, sort of ) ! one of the other knotties that got married there recently was talking about it too. Your guests should register for total rewards ahead of time, and then they can go to the total rewards members line up when checking in. if they don'thave the total rewards done ahead of time, then I believe there is a desk or a kiosk they can go to to sign up for the card- but you can do it online and get the physical card later (i think)

i would imagine this applies to all the total rewards properties, in addition to the flamingo

  • i have total rewards but i dont have a card per se i have piece of paper i printed so the card is paper.
  • I'm not sure if they send you the card in the mail if you  register online, you could probably use the paper to check in with.  There is a total rewards desk that is located right by the check in desk you can get your card and then check in.

Yes, you COULD use the kiosk, however, once you have your TR Card you can use the TR Line to check in and it is always WAAAAYY shorter than the regular line.  I wouldn't use the Kiosk to check in because 1),  Any requests that you may have (high floor, view facing pool or strip etc, room near elevator) will not be fulfilled and 2). the clerk will more than likely give you some sort of upgrade (if you don't already have a suite or something booked) when you check in and 3). I trust people more than machines LOL.

Just an FYI, if you check in before 3PM, and you do not present a TR Card you will get charged the early check in fee I think it's around $30?

I use to work at Paris and am very familiar with Total Rewards and or any hotel questions you may have, so knotties feel free to ask me!

  • How does the Total Rewards work exactly? I have read a little bit about it and am curious, but haven't found too many specifics about the point system. Anyone know?

    Kind of both actually.

If you have a Total Rewards card, you can check in all by yourself via Kiosk at Flamingo and it will spit out your room keys.

Now, last time I stayed at Caesars three months ago, while booking the room online, there was a little banner ad that you may skim right past without noticing, that said something about "Want to check in by phone?"  I clicked it and it had me subscribe my cell phone # to their mobile check in service.  A day before check in time, I got a text that said "Reply to this 'checkin' if you want to check in via text tomorrow"  Once I did, it texted me back and said you're checked in, stop by the bell desk with your ID tomorrow to pick up your keys.

If you're going to gamble at all, you should get a card.  It's free, and you just plug it into the slot machine, video poker machine, or hand it to the dealer and/or pit boss if you're playing a table game.  You'll get rated for your average bet and will accumulate reward dollars you can spend on things like food, drinks, put it toward your room, etc.  Or if you gamble a lot, you can get free rooms on up to free everything.

As far as these reward programs go, if you're a table game gambler, you will typically get the maximum benefit by having a dedicated casino host at a smaller property.  I have been getting treated very well by Golden Nugget for example.  One step down from that would be Total Rewards for me; I've found they rate you far more fairly on table games compared to other casinos.  Down near the bottom is MGM's MLife program; they have been known to rate you rather poorly on table games, and for craps players in particular, they do not count your odds bet, which can make a massive difference in your average bet rating, so for big craps players, avoid MGM properties.  Palms I'm up in the air on currently; I've been rated really well and really horribly but my play was the same both times, so I haven't been back since having the bad experience even though I like the casino, clubs and environment.  With how nice Golden Nugget has been to me, not sure if I'll go back at this point.  Will probably still hit Total Rewards properties from time to time since it is nice to stay center strip if we plan to do a bunch of shows and things.

When I was at Flamingo in March, the TR line was as painful as the regular line.  The 3pm thing is the cause of that; everyone waits until 4pm to check in so they don't pay the earlybird fee which means checking in from 4 to 5 takes about an hour.

Fortunately after that trip my TR level got bumped to Diamond and I can check in at the vip office now, but prior to that gold/plat level TR members have to wait a long time with everyone else.

  • Good to know. i do have a card but never seen a line just for it. Probably not paying attention. HAve a suite already so depending on the line will depend on if i wait to ask for an even better upgrade. Thanks
  • I guess maybe I've been lucky!  I've been to the Flamingo four times in the last three months and there has never been more than two people in the TR Check in line.  One time was around Noon, but the other three times were in the afternoon.

  • The TR line typically lines up along the right side of the general lines.

  • We stay at the flamingo all the time and as long as you have your booking code or whatever it's called you can go through the kiosk, you don't have to be a total rewards member.

Most people who wait in line and refuse to use the kiosk buy the cheapest room and then try to haggle their way into a strip view or something else they want but didn't pay for. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
