Didn't find "the one"

Dress shopping was unsucessful this weekend... has anyone ever been to Bridal Mart? What a mess.... First they told me only one of my girls could be back there helping me, yet every other bride back there had like 5 people with them... I only had two!

Then, when my MOH was having difficulites getting me in the dresses by herself, they "assigned" someone to me to help, bless her heart, she was trying, but every dress she pulled for me to try on was the opposite of what I told her I wanted.

I did find one dress I loved, however, they only had it in a size 4... apparently, they only have one size per style in the whole store. So I couldn't even try it on to get an idea of how it would look. I did however get the style number and there's a store in Cary I'm going to check out and see if they have it...

I didn't realize wedding dress shopping would be such a headache!

Bridal Mart was the first place I went---I went on a Tuesday with my maid of honor only.  I wanted to cry before we got out of that place because I expected every shopping experience to be like that one!  I was not impressed with them at all!  They were actually quite rude to me!  I asked them if they had a specific style from a designer that they claim to carry and they said they only had one dress from that designer in the whole store because they didn't sell much from that line...Ummm...how do you expect to sell their line if you don't have any of the dresses in the store for people to see/try on????  I was very disappointed with the whole store in general.  I ended up finding the best customer service/quality I was looking for at David's Bridal (Raleigh and Greensboro) and Mecklenburg Bridal (Charlotte).  Don't lose hope, you will find your dream dress!  And don't let them ruin your idea of dress shopping.  After I found people who treated me better, I looked forward to going dress shopping!  GL!

Thank you! I'm going on Thursday with my sister to the one in Cary that has the one I loved! I hope that experience is MUCH better!

Just an FYI about the cary store - I would check out their reviews on BBB and city search.  Just the other week there was a girl on here complaining about the service and the fact that they wouldn't refund deposits when they never ordered the dresses.  They don't have the best reputation, but the do have a wide selection of dresses.  If you do find the one there, I would shop around before you order it from there.

Oh okay! Thanks for the info. I was planning on mainly trying it on there if they had my size and then ordering from Bridal Mart if they had the best price.

Bridal Mart can be  good or bad. They are very busy on the weekends, so weekdays are much better. I got my BM dresses from there and received good service (but I didn't expect much).

What store in Cary? As pp said, one store around there has a bad rep.

I checked the reviews online, and they were all horrible.... I went back to the designer's website and I found a few other stores in the area that carry that line as well, so I'm going to check their reviews and try one of those!

Thank you for the heads up though, I didn't even think about checking reviews before I went.

The customer service is much different at discount stores like Bridal Mart and David's Bridal than at full-service salons.  There's some give and take when you're getting a discounted price.  I do understand the only one size thing, though.  Wedding dresses are expensive (even the discount ones) and a bridal salon would have a difficult time staying open if they invested in inventory in every size for every dress.

I understand a discount bridal shop is going to be much different than a full service bridal salon, I definitely wasn't expecting a full service salon when I went to Bridal Mart, nor did I want that... but I do think it would have made more sense to have atleast a larger size and a smaller size of the dresses... because most girls aren't a size 4.

LOL yeah, of all the sizes to carry, you wouldn't think it would be a 4.  At one of the shops I went to, all of the dresses were a 10, and I thought even that was pretty small, especially since a wedding dress 10 is like a street size 4.

I had a wonderful experience at Bridal Mart. I didn't end up buying my dress from there (got it $200 cheaper from Pearl's Place), but I did find my dress there. I just went with one of my friends a Friday afternoon and we had great customer service and just an overall great experience. I'm sorry to hear that it wasn't so good for you! GL on your dress shopping journey!

Well they did manage to squeeze me into one 4, not really sure how, and it fit until the zipper got to my boobs, I'm a 36D, so I always end up needing a much bigger size just to fit them things in it! lol. But I'm really hoping another store around here has it, so I can see it on me... I really think this is the one, but It's so hard to tell without seeing it on you first.

I heard about Pearl's place! They carry the designer I'm looking for, so if I decide on the dress, I'll definitely be calling to see if it's cheaper thru them!

I found my dress in Cary. They do have horrible service so I found out which dress was with some research (they have different style numbers than the designer) and ordered it from Jay's Bridal. I was very pleased. You can look at the prices of the dress online if you register. I checked with Pearl's Place to but I ordered from Jay's because they had a promo with free shipping and a free garment bag.

I went to Bridal Mart on a random weeknight literally like 20 minutes before they closed.  (We drove from Raleigh after work and got lost on the way).  Anyway...it was us and maybe one other customer there.  We were rushing around like crazy and grabbing dresses that were "my style".  The girls working there were pretty nice and let me do whatever I wanted, pretty much.  One of the girls helped zip me up and all that.

Anyway....I also bought my dress from Pearl's Place. DO IT! You will never regret it! My dress was in perfect condition, came SUPER FAST, and was almost $200 cheaper than if I had ordered it from the salon where I found it in Raleigh.

dress shopping was frustrating for me as well and size was an issue...seemed like everyone had 6 and 8 and i needed a 12....don't let one experience get you down, every store is different. hang in there, you will definitely find "the one"....it took me over 6 weeks, four different cities, and a million trips to david's bridal before i finally found my dress.....at davids bridal, lol

Don't let it get you down...you WILL find it eventually. :)  I went to Anjolique's in Huntersville and they were ABSOLUTELY amazing!!!! It was waaay more than I wanted to spend, so they worked out a payment plan and everything. It was the second dress I tried on, but living in a small town, I felt pressure to try all the other big cities as well. So needless to say, about 4 Saturdays, countless stores, ugly dresses that didn't fit, and one unhappy me later, I went back to try it on again and fell in love. :)  Keep your head up....its out there!!

I have been looking for a dress since August and still don't have it yet.  I have one in mind.  But I have never felt that "this is it" moment.  I have tried on dress that I really liked and could be it, but I am beinning to think I will never have a "this is it" moment.  Asking around, some girls do and some don't.  It is a frustrating process, but you have to be patient and you'll find something you like/ love.

I have actually had great experiences at Bridal Mart.  I have been there twice ad things went fine.  Of course both times it was me and one other person.  I went to that place in Cary and it was horrible!!  There are several other nice places around here that I recommend going to.  And definitely check out Pearls Place.  I will be ordering my dress from there, whenever I find it.

One of my Bridesmaids told me she never had that "this is it" moment. She said she tried on soo many dresses over the course of 5 months and the dress she ended up getting wasn't a "OMG, this is the one" but it was a "I'm content with not trying on any more dresses"

I really hope that isn't the case for either of us! I do want to have my "this is the one" moment!

Good Luck on your dress search! Let me know how it goes!

I got my dress and the BM's dresses from Pearl's Place too, definitely a good experience, loved saving the money, dont let the local places bum you out  :)

I found my dress at Victorian Bridal in Raleigh. We had no idea it was a high end (for us) dress shop. We didn't want to waste our girls time, so we told her we were only looking at dresses under $1,000. Well, Amber was great and I found my dress.

I resisted buying the dress b/c I thought I could find the same or similar dress for less at D.B. and boy was I wrong. I just didn't think the dresses were of good quality. I was totally disappointed and almost made the wrong decision of buying a cheaper dress just to save money.
