can someone please explain this to me?



what makes these eggs "vegetarian" (Other than a desire to charge 3x as much for them?)

i mean, it's an unfertilized baby chick - i guess sperm is what makes it "meat"?

    I guess they meant the chickens were fed a veg diet, as opposed to their rendered compatriots that were woodchippered due to low productivity ;)

    Otherwise, Cadbury Creme Eggs.

    Although now remembering, technically eggs are vegetarian (just not vegan).  No animal was killed in eating an egg.  Just exploited, but chicken is still alive.

    Although I had to look this up: grocery store eggs aren't fertilized.

    It would be like eating an ovum (tastykake!) or the other component (no comment)  No potential for life in and of itself.

    Chicken breasts don't have potential for life on their own either. ;)

    I'm not arguing that vegetarians should feel bad about eating eggs or milk...I just think it is funny that it might matter to them if the chicken was a vegetarian or not (although chickens eating chickens is validly disturbing).

    This is what I don't get: Chickens lay eggs, whether there's roosters around or not. How is taking those eggs "exploitation"? They're just going to sit in a chicken nest and rot, otherwise.

    chickens are naturally omnivores, just like people. I'm not saying they sould be eating pureed chicken, but they need to get protein from somewhere.

    actually, there is much debate in the vegan community over whether or not honey is vegan.

    Vegans are crazy.  I kind of want to give them a copy of Ursula LeGuin's Buffalo Gals and Other Animal Presences where the plants have thoughts and feelings and perspectives, just to see if wondering if they really might starves them off.
