Rehearsal dinner ideas- Downtown Detroit

Hello!  Does anyone have any restaurant ideas for a rehearsal dinner in downtown Detroit that could accommodate 35-40 people?  Thanks in advance!

  • It really depends on your budget. Here are some ideas:
    - Angelina's Italian Bistro. They have a side room, but were kinda pricey when all was said and done. Their food is yummy though.

    - Detroit Beer Company. They have an upstairs. This is where we're having ours. I don't know final costs as my FMIL booked it.

    - POSSIBLY Park Bar/Bucharest Grill. They used to have an upstairs that was kinda unfinished, but I don't know if it's still available. But they're super cheap!

    - POSSIBLY Foran's Grand Trunk Pub. They have a bar area that's really small, but also expanded recently to a room that could accommodate that large of a crowd. I just don't know if they'd book events like that and if you'd have privacy. But their food is super good and reasonably priced.

    Going out of downtown:
    - Traffic Jam & Snug in midtown
    - Roma Cafe in Eastern Market

  • Red Smoke in Greek town or Pizza Populous are also great choices. We looked into Hockeytown but they have a lot of restrictions when booking. There can't be any home sporting events for you to book there.

Thank you for the suggestions!  What is the upstairs like at Detroit Beer Company?  Does it look similar to the decor on the main floor?  I was having trouble finding pictures.  Sometimes planning from out of state is such a pain!!  We are trying to stay under $40/person.

  • We're having ours at Xochimilco in Mexican Town.  The place is split up into little rooms, so its very conducive to accomodating large groups!

Yes, it's similar. More open I'd say since there isn't a bar up there, just seating. It also overlooks the street, so it's got a nice view. I think there's exposed brickwork, but honestly can't remember for sure!
