Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Ceremony in a church you aren't a member of?

If I am having a reception in a city different from where I live but still wanted to be married in a church will most churches allow you to use the church? Or do they usually require you to be a member?

Re: Ceremony in a church you aren't a member of?

  • Doing the same, in a church between our hometowns. We are Baptists and most of the churched I looked at allow it. Yes, higher fee is typically involved.

We are getting married in a lake town. They have a lot of people travel there to wed so there is another step in our process. Members take priority. If they want a date that is booked by a non-member they can take it up until 3 months before booked, non-member wedding. (When I booked it had never happened...now it has. I moved my date up.) It is frustrating, but understandable in such a desirable church for OOTers.

We also have to meet with the pastor for pre-marital counseling, as we (for now) intend to use the pastor at the church.

    Best wishes!
