Wedding ideas

Hello everybody! New poster here! I apparently posted my question in the wrong spot before, so maybe this is where I want to be? Anyways- me and my fiance are going to get married next April and I just don't have any ideas on what to do! I have all my ideas for the reception but not the wedding. We want a small ceremony with only immediate family for the wedding which would be a total of 10-15 people then go to dinner afterwards a nice restaurant. He was raised Catholic as was I but we do not want to be married in a church. We want to have the reception 2 weeks later. Any ideas? Thank you for all your help!

Hmm, maybe pick a special place to both of you and get married there? Do you want to get married inside or outside?  There are lots of nice city and state parks around that you could probably have a small ceremony in.  Since you want your ceremony to be small with just family pick a place that is meaningful to you!

Welcome and congrats on your engagement!

I would suggest to start by looking around online and talking with your FI about what he wants. Once you get a vision in your head, I think it will  make things much easier for you both.

Like pp said, do you want an indoor or outdoor wedding? Country club or a reception hall? Do you want to serve alchohol or it doesn't really matter to you? There are a lot of questions and things to think about. I would also suggest picking up a copy of Columbus Bride magazine and browsing around here on TK. There are some great resources and if nothing else, it may spark an interest or an idea. Once you have a vision/plan in mind, everything else will fall into place.

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Oh and I don't think there is anything wrong with having the reception later especially since you mentioned having a small wedding. But you have to be careful how you go about this so you don't look gift grabby. If you are having a small wedding, that is fine, but if you invite a bunch of people to a reception after the wedding, then some people might just think well, I wasn't good enough to witness the wedding, but now I am invited to this reception where I should bring a gift. Just remember that gifts are not required, so as long as your family and friends know that you had an intimate ceremony for a reason and you guys just want the rest of them to celebrate your marriage with you a few weeks later, I think it is okay.

I hope this makes sense and doesn't come off harsh. I am really not a mean person, you can ask the ladies around this board.
