Should I match the Marine Corps. dress uniform??

Ok, so I still haven't picked my wedding colors and here's why...

My fiance is wearing his Marine Corps. dress blues. For those of you that haven't seen them, here is a pic:

ignore me lol, that wasn't my best pic =P but anyways, my question is whether I should match the uniform or not. I really would rather not, because my wedding is going to be outdoors and in the spring, and I feel like those colors would be just too dark and red just doesn't really suit my personality. But will it look weird if I use nice bright spring colors like pinks and oranges and greens? Right now I have no idea lol, what are your thoughts?

  • I don't think you have to match it. MIght actually be kind of weird if you did. I think spring colors would be great!

Will  your FI be the only one in the wedding party wearing dress blues?  If he is, I wouldn't worry - in most formal, posed pics, you will be between FI and BMs, and your dress will be a buffer between his uniform and their dresses.

But, yellow is a nice, spring color that wouldn't clash w/ his uniform.  Lighter blues, champagne, tan, sage green are all possibilities, too.  You could do yellow with dark blue accents to tie it all together.

A friend of mine recently married a state trooper.  He wore his trooper uniform for the ceremony, then changed into a traditional tux - would something like that be an option for your FI?  You could do pics with the 2 of you in his dress blues, and pics of the entire WP after he changed.

    You can coordinate without matching!

  • Stick with your spring colours, no need to match his dress blues.

Think of it like how you can pair any colour top with your blue jeans.

yes he will be the only one in his dress blues, everyone else will be in a tux coordinated with the BMs. I'm not sure if he will be changing after the ceremony or not, but he might considering how uncomfortable and hot they tend to get.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I'm not so worried about matching now, just didn't want to clash with the uniform completely.
