Runner's Knee? Tendinitis?

For the past few weeks or so, I've been having trouble with my knee. If I run for a long period of time, my knee starts to hurt. If I walk its fine unless it is after running then its hard to walk with it hurting. I also do 30DS which it hasn't hurt it too much. I use a heating pad on it because it seems to help more then ice. I was looking up my symptoms and ran into Runner's Knee and tendinitis. I don't really know which it is and was wondering if anyone on here had any insight into what it could be and what I could do to help it. Thanks!

I know this isn't going to sound very helpful. I am a runner as well as a medical professional. I would suggest you make an appointment to see your family Doctor, without knowing exactly what the issue is, it would be hard for anyone to offer advice.

But have you tried resting your knee for a week...I think that might be a good start. Alternating ice and heat could help, but you need to rest it either way.

    GOOD LUCK!!

Also, taking ibuprofen will help if it's tendonitis, so will putting ice on it right after you run.

Have you recently gotten new shoes?

My general rule with pain is, if it's not getting significantly better within a week, go to the doctor.
I was having problems with pain around the tendon & knee cap. I went to a specialist who gave me some physical therapy exercises and it took care of the problem before it became serious.

    Ditto PP's.

Also, how old are your running shoes?  Have you ever been fitted properly for a pair before going running?  If you're running in old shoes, that could certainly cause knee pain.  My knee pain got significantly better once I bought a new pair!
