Candy Buffet Bags

Hi Ladies - I need your advice. We're having a candy buffet and I'm not sure how many bags to put out. Is it best to put out enough bags per person or per couple? A friend had 144 people and 150 bags and had a ton left over. We're having 200 people and about 95 couples so I was thinking 120 but my mother says we should have 200. Your thoughts and advice is appreciated.

Also one candy we're getting are jelly beans. What's a good estimate for a smaller candy like this for 200 people, 5lbs, 10lbs, etc?

    We invited 70, had out 65 bags and had about 10-15 bags left over at the end of the night

    Thank you. So it may be best to get a bag person rather than per couple.

    I agree with getting a bag per person. We had 125 people, and 130 bags. I only had about 10 bags leftover.

    My friend said she went to a wedding where the guests were taking 3 or 4 bags each, and there were no bags- or candy- left by the time she went to the buffett. I'd air on the side of caution and order more bags. Spending a few more dollars on extra bags will make you look a lot less cheap than if the bags run out IMO.

    Definitely one bag per person not per couple. You should always have extras.

    We had at least one per person...I think more, and we had a ton left over.  I think if you go with one per person, you should be safe.  Most couples probably think they should only do one per couple...but to be safe, you should have one per person.  I see that you are in Boston...I'm in Southern NH...I have scoops, tongs and glass jars (15 of them of all different shapes and sizes) if you are intersted in buying them, let me know, I can email you some pictures.  I bought them off someone else who had just had a wedding, and believe me, it was well worth the money to not have to run around and find glass jars for everything.
