I can honestly say that I will never step foot in another DB again. Maybe they aren't all like this but my experience was terrible.
They lost my profile that I created with them the first time I went to try on dresses about 3 months ago. I tried on 15 different dresses the first time I was there, took measurements, had a "wishlist built". ALL GONE. Like it never happened. Then the service rep I had booked with a month in advance they double booked....so I was crammed in the same area with another bride and her wedding party there was talking smack to us like we weren't there and couldn't hear them. Really? No class.
Couldn't find a dress in my size to save my life...they were either 2 sizes too small or 4 sizes too big. It was just frustrating all around.
SO, now I guess I'm back to square one with my dress hunt.

Oh, Im so so sorry about your experience. Do you have any other boutiques in your area you could go to?

Mom and pop shops tend to give you the time and attention. Where I live in Canada, Little Italy and Greektown are FULL of family run bridal salons where the old ladies fawn all over you. It's fantastic. Give that a try if--for no other reason--then to have a nice experience looking for dresses.

Have you narrowed down your style yet? What sort of dress are you looking for and what is your general price range? Maybe we can help look for something online for you, and save you a bit of legwork.

You are a sweet heart! I think I only have one Bridal Shop in my town that isn't DB. I've noticed that a sweetheart neck line looks fantastic on me and a fited gown with a side gathering higher up on one side is very flattering on me. I will post pictures of the dresses I like.

Sorry you had a bad time with DB. I agree that smaller less corperate stores will give you a better experience. Does anywhere close to you have Maggie Sottero? I looked up sweetheart neckline on their site and there is a bunch of them that might fit what you want.

Not sure this fits your description......but the "side gathering higher up" made me think of the dress my daughter bought----

My daughter bought #17 in the "classic" line, but if you look, there are several dresses with the side upward swing while having a fitted bodice----

They offer a store locator---perhaps you will get lucky!

Oh, that sucketh!! My first wedding (in 2004, I'm widowed)- I bought my gown at DB and had a fantastic experience from start to finish, but have heard nightmare stories!

I second Maggie Sottoro and also check out Alfred Angelo- both have lovely dresses in styles you like for not too much money (ie: less than 1K).

Hang in there, you'll find THE DRESS!! Maybe get a couple friends together for a road trip to a larger area w/ more stores? Could be fun!

It totally depends on the location. I bought my dress at DB because I wanted a particular style and that was the one I could afford. I had a great time trying on dresses at the location near my MOH. My consultant was amazing. I bought the dress at the location near me when my mom was in town. I made my appointment and told them I specifically wanted to try on one dress. When I got there, they didn't have my size in the dress, only 2 sizes too big, and some other bride was trying it on. Her consultant told my consultant that I was not allowed to try on the dress until she was finished, even though she was trying on several other dresses. So an hour later, I'm standing there just waiting to try on the one dress. My consultant was nowhere to be found during this period. When I finally tried on my dress, she didn't offer any opinion or advice. I bought the dress, because my mom was in town, but I was SO tempted to leave and go to the first DB so my former consultant would get the sale. I really wish I would have done this. When I picked up my dress, they wouldn't even let me try it on at the store. I'm not going back there for alterations, I'm just going to find a seamstress. Basically, if you can afford to shop elsewhere, DO IT! Good luck dress shopping!

That is terrible! I went into a David's once and hated it. I might go back for bridesmaids dresses, but not to the same location. They were overrun with children, it felt rushed, and one of the associates was rude to me (made a comment about my size). I wish you better luck in your search!

LOL. I'm looking at it like this....now that I not going to buy the dress I wanted at DB I can find one that fits my theme better and is made just for me!

David's Bridal sucks. Now I am a curvy girl and I want a mermaid gown. I am actually planning on making my dress, but that's beside the point and they did no know this. We went in there for me to try stuff on so we could be sure that the silhouette looked good on me. They have absolutely nothing in my size or even larger that they could have pinned back, and because I wanted a mermaid dress they couldn't put me in a smaller dress because it wouldn't go over my hips. I went there because they are big, so I figured they would have the most options. Boy was I wrong. I finally just let my mom pick out a couple for me to try on, just so she could have the experience with me.
