So, over the weekend, we made some progress!
After shopping for paper stock, arguing over the order of colors, and then finally me spending Sunday assembling a few homemade sample invites (pictures to come soon), FI and I finally agreed on the color, layout and order of our invites. We're doing black pocketfolds with a coral damask invite mat, white invite (with our coral logo, which he designed), a black/white damask ribbon and coral paper closure. It looks elegant, but at the same time doesn't seem over the top for us or our venue.
Then, we met with our Officiant, who we liked instantly. Since neither of us are particularly religious, but definitely spiritual, we are going with a Life-Cycle Celebrant, who specializes in customizing the ceremony to be about the couple and integrates customs and rituals specific to our backgrounds (e.g., FI is half Native American, so there is a beautiful quote she will read about how they view love). All we have to do is finalize our contract with her.
Tonight, we're meeting with (hopefully) our photographer, who is a former colleague of mine, and we love their work.
And finally...
I purchased this dress from a fellow Knottie off the Classifieds board. I knew it would be too short for me once I put on shoes, so the second picture shows my idea to turn the bottom into a bubble hem and I'll add straps. I'm either going to wear this as a rehearsal dinner dress, or possibly our after party dress.
