Empty space

i am planning a wedding for 350-400 ppl. In NYC. I was wondering if it Is less expensive to rent out an empty space & bring everything in (chairs, tables, caterers, etc.) or is it less expensive to rent a Venue that has everything already. Can anybody help?

Re: Empty space

  • that depends on your budget. i got a tip from another knottie here and hired Shea from Elite(b)Events, they specifically specialize in budget weddings. see for my wedding im having 300 guests and i thought it would be more to do the blank space and i ffelt overwhelmed with all the rentals. so i started looking for halls that did everything...the ones i liked were charging an arm and a leg per person and the affordable halls...i just did not like and were not my style at all, but now that Shea and her team are dealing with it and she is showing me all the ways that they are saving me money by only bringing in the things i need... im ecstatic! (yay me!) it has really taken a load off my back because now that i have some one else taking care of it i can bretahe easier and in Shea and Michaels words just "point at what i like!"
and its great because instead of the countless cookie cutter venues i went to...she is creating my vision for my wedding out of a blank canvas which makes it more personal! i encourage you to atleast check her out and speak with her, and atleast have her explain to you the pro's and con's of both hall and blank space, and her consultaions are free so why not!

    happy planning <3
  • I had heard about Elite(b)events from other knotties too, but i am a little discouraged because i heard wedding planners are expensive & i figured it was an extra expense that we couldnt afford on top of paying for such a big wedding.

</div><div>i think you should talk to Shea. Shes very friendly and will sit with you and explain how the process works and how they get all their top notch services at cost. When i had my consultation with her she explained to me that all of her vendors chosen are top notch perfessionals, but since she has amazing connections with them, they only charge her clients for their time and service as opposed to the ginourmous commission. when i hired her, i reccommended my friend to her as well. Her budget was was $120,000 for 415 guests but it looks like Shea is going to wrap up her wedding at $80,000.....so not only does her service pay for itself but she still has plenty more left over to sit in the bank.</div><div>Elite(b)EVents is the only one in the industry i believe who specifically does budget weddings, which she explained what the (b) stands for, as in BUDGET. </div><div>My friend has nothing but great things to say about her and so far i have nothing but great experiences every time i see her!</div><div>please keep us posted if you become and Elite(b) bride!</div>
