Intimate dinner after the ceremony

I posted before that I was looking for a restaurant that would serve us a private dinner on the beach for after our ceremony. I contacted several places and nobody offers this. Today I got an email from another restaurant which has a similar dinner to what I'm looking for. Here is the email, let me know what you think and if you would do it : The cabanas are not directly on the beach but they are about as close as you can get. They occupy the prime location on my lanai. While there are other tables on the lanai, privacy can be created by drawing the curtains closed leaving only the beautiful view of Waikiki and of Diamond Head. The menu in the cabanas is an 8 course chef's degustation menu paired with 5 wines. The menu retails at $150 per person before tax and gratuity. The minimum food and beverage spend per person for the cabanas is the same- $150 per person.

Re: Intimate dinner after the ceremony

  • Have you looked into dinner on the west side of the island? the sunsets are more beautiful over there and there's less people on the beach. Azul's at Marriott, Ama Ama at Disney Aulani.

The only dining experience I had with "feet in the sand" is at a luau. In which case, I would recommend Paradise Cove. Granted, it's not as "intimate" buuuuuuut... They dedicate one session of the show to newlyweds and couples celebrating anniversaries. As in they turn off all the lights, the hostess sings the Hawaiian wedding song, and all couples (newlyweds or not) get up and slow dance underneath the stars (could be your first dance?)

I saw that in your bio, you're military-affiliated. Now military restaurants here dont necessarily offer a lot in terms of "formal romance" but some of the views rival any 5-star resort. So there's Schooner's at Pearl Harbor (views of Rainbow Bay and marina, Sunset Lanai at Camp Smith (overlooks ALL of pearl harbor and pretty much the whole center of the island) OR rent military beach cabanas that LITERALLY ARE RIGHT ON THE BEACH and make your own dinner/picnic, PARC at Waianae, Barber's Point Cottages, or MCBH beach cottages. All super CHEAP for military. They fill up fast though, especially during spring/summer.

Sorry for the long post, I too am marrying a Navy man so I felt it was my duty to help out a fellow future Navy wife. Laughing
  • Thank you so much! Never knew we could rent Cabanas! We are having a second photo shoot at sunset so we wouldn't be able to have dinner until around 8 PM. The place that over looks Pearl Harbor sounds amazing! I will look into the places you referred to. It's so hard to pick places to go since we've never been there. We also aren't renting a car until the day after our wedding but I'm sure if we needed to go off of Waikiki we could take a taxi. I appreciate all the info fellow future Navy wife!!

  • Have you tried contacting Turtle Bay?
  • No, do they have something like this??!

  • They do private beach dinners and the property is absolutely amazing.  I loved it!
  • Great thanks, I sent them an email this afternoon!!

  • Keep in mind that Turtle Bay is about a 45 minute drive from Waikiki.  We stayed there the second week of our honeymoon - it left a lot to be desired in our eyes.  It's a great location, but the hotel is in serious need of renovations and there just really isn't much to do there.  Add to that it is very $$ for what you get.

  • I contacted Turtle Bay. Their price for a private dinner on the beach is insane! $95+ pp plus 20% service charge and 4.71 tax. No drinks included. Also add $75 server fee AND $600 to have the dinner on the beach. Are they crazy? They said they set up tiki torches and a 10x10 tent.

  • Yeah, their prices are outrageous, plus you have to add the huge tax onto it and everything there is ridiculously priced.

  • Yikes! I can't believe they would make someone pay $600 just to put a table on the beach for dinner.
