Drink options?

Since we are supplying our own alcohol we had originally planned on doing a full bar. Now that we are really looking over the guest list, we realize that FI's side of the family really only drinks beer and wine, while my side of the family are very light drinkers but prefer mixed drinks when they do drink.

With this being the case, we are sort of thinking to go with beer and wine and host a limited bar. The beer and wine will be easy but what I need some advice on is what are the most popular types of mixed drinks that would be considered staples. Something that any mixed drink drinker would be happy with drinking. I am a wine drinker and really only drink non frozen margaritas so my knowledge of mixed drinks is limited. We want to give people a choice of drinks, but don't really want to do a specialty drink per se. We want to limit the liquor choices to 3 or 4 types of liquor.

Re: Drink options?

  • You may want to just stick to the beer and wine. Perhaps add one or two signature cocktails of your choosing, like your margarita recipe of choice and a vodka or rum drink?

Especially since you and FI don't appear to be drinkers, you may be stuck with a bunch of bottles of liquor that you'll never use.

If you want the general supply-your-own "rule", here you go:

    (For every 100 people)

    10 bottles of vodka
    6 bottles of gin
    6 bottles of rum
    4 bottles of scotch
    2 each of a bourbon & a whiskey
2 each of tequila and triple sec
