What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?

I did something a little crazy. I bought a dress online, swayed by the price, the authenticity (it as made in the '50s!) and the look. I should be getting the dress in the mail in the next week, so if all goes well, I will have a tea-length, lace, genuine vintage dress! And if not, look for it on sale on these boards

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?

February marks 11 months from the wedding, and we are going to finalize things with our venue (or switch venues if they can't accomodate us), and hopefully getting a photographer picked.

Tell us about/show us your wedding day hairstyle idea. Is it retro/vintage inspired?

I always imagined my hair down and wavey, but the more I realize that a classic vintage style is what I want, the more I'm begining to think hair swept back in a loose bun with a birdcage veil is the way to go.

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?

A photobooth set up at the reception. We are going to construct one out of wood and place a bucket with black and white disposable cameras nearby. Rather than having silly props, we decided to find period appropriate props like hats, fedoras, gloves, etc. We are going to browse through Goodwill or thrift stores for these items.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?

Deciding on our save-the-dates and engagement photo shoot. We'll need to send these out in about 3 months.

Tell us about/show us your wedding day hairstyle idea. Is it retro/vintage inspired?

I am doing a French twist with a white peacock flower on the side. I'm also wearing a bird cage veil.

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?

Glass vases and cake stands. I'm thinking about browsing some antique stores for more inspiration. Will use the vases for our reception centerpieces and the cake stands for our cupcakes.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?

With only 3 months before the DW we'll be busy. Sending out the STDs, buying our wedding bands, shopping for and hopefully buying the rest of our clothes and accessories (FI needs a suit, I need a rehearsal dinner dress and the undergarments for my wedding dress), booking the DJ for AHR.

Tell us about/show us your wedding day hairstyle idea. Is it retro/vintage inspired?

I don't think it's vintage inspired. Just a loose bun with my fascinator.

What's your latest retro/vintage 0idea/inspiration?
I really don't have any new vintage inspiration except for the posts that I see on this board. They are pretty inspiring!

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?
I'm going in to try on my dress tomorrow in the sample size (No, my size hasn't come in yet) which is only one size too big. It's a lace up back so it's not like it's huge or anything. One of my bridesmaids is going with me and she's going to try on bridesmaids dresses and look though the catalog with me. I'm pretty excited! I have a cocktail ring and a pair of earrings to try on with my gown just to see how they look and what kind of jewelry will work with the gown. I went to the dollar store and got 7 bunches of roses to make a mock-up bouquet so I can get an idea of what I really want to do with my bouquet and my whole bridal look.

I'm going to ask my seamstress if she can make a custom flower girl dress for my daughter that looks just like the dress I had picked out from Eden Bridals without the beading on the top portion of the dress. she mentioned how much she likes making little dresses, and I think it would be really special for Willow to have a dress made just for her.

I'm also going to ask her about the price of my custom veil and garter set so I can put some real numbers in my budget for them.

Things we are hoping to pick up or order for the wedding this month:
My shoes!!!
Darker red rose petals (the ones we have look really bright on the grass!)
My pretty brooch

Fun stuff for the kid's table
Reserving a few specialty rental items
Candle holders and candles for unity set (maybe)

ribbon for the sandalwood fans

Tell us about/show us your wedding day hairstyle idea. Is it retro/vintage inspired?
I don't think it's vintage inspired, but it's really pretty and romantic. I want my hair to look like the first picture, but with the loose curls in the second picture (minus the headband) I just bought a curling iron so I can see if I actually like this idea. I think I bought the wrong size so I'm going to exchange it tonight for one that makes smaller curls. My hair is growing out from a really short haircut so I'm hoping it will be long enough to just make a tuck bun in the back so I can stick my veil in it. I don't know if it will look right, but we'll see what happens.....

the dress i tried on and fell in love with over the weekend at davids bridal. i am obsessed with it. so maybe Marilyn Monroe? wearing the dress made me feel sexy but confident and not overtly sexy.
i'm thinking stained red lips for the wedding day now...

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?
continuing to scour thift stores and the monthly antique market for tableware, handkerchiefs, jewelry, toys, vases which double as centerpieces and favors

picking out the design for the invites and getting them printed, so we can mail them in march

starting work on flowers, got some faux ones from Michaels

considering getting engagement photos taken..we hadnt thought of it

start working out so i can drop some weight

sign the contract for the tent and chair rental

and look into getting more tables

start DIY veil

check prices for flasks for bridesmaid gifts

prob pulled back in a bun. the dress i love has a standup collar on a bolero jacket, so it would be too much to wear it down. the veil i will prob diy on a headband, so maybe a little poof in the front of the headband?

Sending out my STDs (late, i know)
Signing up for pre-cana classes
Meeting with florists for quotes
Just sent a payment to our photographer (yay!)
Figuring out cake stuff
Maybe makeup trial if i have time (and money lol)

All of this will be scheduled around working on my our house that FI and I closed on early last week. So, i probably wont get all of this done. At least the first and second will be completed.

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?
Hmm, not really my latest, but I have been playing with the idea of using vintage books as a part of my centerpieces. Something to make the milk glass vases more varied in heights.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?
So much with the wedding 4 months out:
Starting our escort cards and programs
Making the ring pillow
Making signs for our typewriter guest book and candy buffet
Getting more scoops for the candy buffet
Possibly making birds to go in the birdcage we are using for the cards
Setting up a hair trial appointment

Nothing new this month, but my birdcage veil arrived this week, so I'm pretty excited about that! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with my hair.

My fiance is starting to make the invitations, and I'm scouting out places for the rehearsal dinner

I love hairstyles from the 30's and 40's, but I think an updo would be best for me. I'm having a hair trial next month, so I can see how some of these styles might look on me.

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?
I’m buying lace fans for myself and my mom and my mom-in-law to be. I’m also going to get a lace parasol for myself since it will be in the hottest part of summer.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?
This month I am writing out all of my invitations. Yes, I am hand writing them all myself. Since it’s a small wedding of only 75 people the good news is that I only have 30 to do!

I tried to find something that would work with my Spanish theme, so I'll be doing this with a dark red rose in the middle of the C.

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?
Since I'm just recently engaged (!!!) I have several vintage ideas flying around my head. The main things I'm looking at now is dress ideas and if I want to lean more towards a 20s/30s inspired wedding or a 40s/50s. Desicions, desicions!

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?
Once again, since I'm just recently engaged and have a ways to go until my big day, my fiance and I need to figure out our budget, start thinking about different venues, check out some of those venues, set a date, etc. Pretty much all of the basic beginning wedding planning stuff.

Tell us about/show us your wedding day hairstyle idea. Is it retro/vintage inspired?
To be honest, I have no idea yet, haha. My hair pretty short, so it looks best in 20s/40s styles. I do know that I want to do something with a beautiful floral fascinator (and possibly peacock feathers), though.

My new project for this month is calling local car dealerships to see if we can rent a vintage car. There's this BEAUTIFUL black Cadillac at a dealer by my house. I hope we can use it!

My hair is going to be styled like Audrey Hepburn's in "Charade".

My make up will be simple. Big eyelashes and red lips.

My dress is a replica of the dress she wore in "Funny Face". It's gorgeous and fits perfectly! I can't believe I ordered in online. I didn't even need it altered. I got lucky!

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration? My newest idea/obsession is my shoes. My FI is seriously talented artist and is going to paint something on my shoes. We've been thinking of a pin up girl. So I've been looking for inspiration for him.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February? We're trying to find a photographer. We origianally were going to just get pics taken at the chapel, but decided we should really have a super awesome photographer take some cool photos of us. It's down to two choices now.

Tell us about/show us your wedding day hairstyle idea. Is it retro/vintage inspired? This is a subject I think about alot. I'm going to be doing my own hair and i have several options (see diy hair in bio) but I can't decide what I want.

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?

Lately it's been this forum! I am so happy that I stumbled across it! Also, Zazzle.com's vintage stamps make me swoon, wedding planning while I'm listening to the Frank Sinatra station on last.fm gets me in the mood, and I try to keep my grandmother in my while making decisions (because she was getting married in the 30's and I've never seen a picture of her wedding so I can let my imagination run wild.), and plus all theknot's real weddings. Beautiful stuff there.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?
Well, me fiance and I are getting married in July and we just decided this about a month ago so as you can imagine I've got quite a few things to do asap! Friday we're looking for florists, Saturday we're going to a cake tasting, and Sunday? That's our lovely day off *thank you V-day!* I'm also searching around for a reliable and moderately priced DJ service with light installations. I know it's not very vintage, but I'm in love with having our monogram shine down on the dance floor.

Tell us about/show us your wedding day hairstyle idea. Is it retro/vintage inspired?
Actually, I have no idea what I'm doing with my hair yet. I want that fascinator that they have at David's Bridal (but have been searching around on Etsy.com for something handmade and more meaningful...might check out ebay when I get my check) but I don't really want the birdcage veil. I'm wondering if there's some way that I can work a normal elbow-length veil in there without looking tacky or too busy.

I have medium long hair (that awkward middle stage where you can't have the long, romantic curls but you can't do the flip thing either.) So I'm open to suggestions. I'd like to wear it half up, but I'm not sure how vintage that is.

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?

Im thinking about my engagement pics. I bought this really cute sailor inspired dress and a sailor hat for my WWII inspired pics. I bought my fiance some suspenders and i want to get him a Panama hat to go with it. (or a fedora, but a Panama hat is more appropriate for Puerto Rico). I also bought a pencil dress and it looks great with my pearls. Will be heading to Old San Juan as soon as everything for the shoot is set. If youve been to Old San Juan then you know 40's pics there will be amazing!

What wedding-related project are you tackling this February?

Invitations. DIY or bought... i dunno... I also decided on the flower girls dresses! I had to cus my mother in law to be is tryna get her say without my consent on this. She said she had the dress already and when i asked to see it she said "why do you wanna see it, youre not gonna wear it" . (her only granddaughter (my fiances niece) will be a fw, so yeah..... kinda dificult). So on that note, i need to get to the fashion designer that will be making the dresses before she does!!!
