Dinner will consist of 3 different buffet serving stations:

Mini sandwhiches
Haluski

A Pasta Station
Baked Ziti in marinara sauce
Chicken pene alfredo with broccoli
Wild Mushroom Ravioli
Meatballs on the side

A Salad Station
Ceasar salad
Mixed Field Green Salad
Caprese Salad
Hummus and Pita
Stuffed Grape Leaves
Variety of breads and rolls

Re: Thoughts on Menu

  • It seems like you have a fair amount of meat, but I don't eat meat, so I'm biased.  How many of your appetizers will be meat (can't tell what kind of tacos, empanadas, and quesadillas you're having from your post).  One thing I noticed is that you don't have any seafood.  Fine if you don't thing it'll be a crowd pleaser, but if you think guests would like it, you could do shrimp cocktail or have some fish tacos with your other mini tacos.

I forgot to mention but the empanadas are beef, the mini tacos come in beef and chcken, and the quesadills are shirmp, cheese, and vegetable.

The seafood is something we had considered, but it had pushed our price up an additional $12/person, which seemed a little steep.

  • Wow, can I come to your wedding? It sounds delicious.

Now, let's think about people who are "meat and potato" folks. I personally love kielbasa and stuffed cabbage because I'm Polish and grew up on it. Will most of your guests like this? Or, do you anticipate there will be a few people who will want "just" a meat dish like beef or chicken that is not sauced up or accompanying something else? I'm not criticizing your choices, just asking it since you probably know your guests best. In spite of the bad rap, there are people that sort of like "wedding food", ie chicken or beef.

I think your menu is well balanced.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Looks good to me- I think it's pretty varied and I totally get you on the price difference with certain foods- we're doing a pasta bar with a chicken entree and with sausage and meatballs available as a side because adding the filet mignon and salmon entree was a $15 difference. And as a vegan, I'm pretty happy with the vegetarian options.

Hmm, I feel most of the guests will be fine with the menu.  There are some people (not buy any means the majority) that are like fiancee, die hard meat eaters.  That being said even fiancee said that he would be happy with his meatballs, kielbasa, and wings.

Yeah I hear you.  When we got our first original estimate from the caterer they had included foods way out of price range, like a seafood bar.  Just getting the menu down to foods that are more in our budget was able to drop the price down by $15/person.

  • That menu sounds pretty awesome to me.
  • Uhh, awesome menu! You are offering a wide variety of foods and providing options that ensure everyone will have SOMETHING they like. Kudos.
