Anyone get ring insurance?

Hey Girls,

I just wanted to know if anyone got insurence on their ring? We have the insurence that the store offered (robbins bros) if a dimond falls out or chips.....but what about if it gets lost/stolen? Did anyone take out extra insurence for this? I heard that you can add it onto your renters insurence? and what was the cost? Thanks

I have insurance on mine, and definitely recommend it. I would be totally freaked out about my rings getting lost or stolen otherwise and scared to have them in public.

We added it to our renters insurance, and it was easy to do. They had it arranged the same day. You have to fax or bring in an official appraisal form for the jewelry.

As for the cost, that depends on the value of your ring. The more your ring is worth, the more your insurance will be, naturally. I think we pay about $600/year for it PLUS our renters insurance (I don't remember what part of that is ring vs renters...but the ring insurance is more than renters!). But for me, well worth the peace of mind.

We have a rider on our renter's insurence that covers all our nice jewelry, specifically my e-ring. We use AAA.

Ring insurance was something we did right away. I was scared about it getting lost or stolen too. We used Jewlers Mutual, a company I found while researching jewlery insurance. The deductable was really inexpensive and you can get a free quote here:

    Hope that helps :)

I second the Jewelers Mutual.  That is what our jeweler recommended.   The price will depend on the cost of the ring, but we found it to be doable, and less expensive that adding it onto our AAA insurance.  Good luck!
  • Where did you go to get the ring appraised? I've already talked to my insurance company about the insurance but now I can't find a place that will do an in-store appraisal! They all want to send it out and that is not an option. Can you point me in the right direction??!!<div>
