NWI ceremony location help

We're trying to figure out where to have our ceremony in northwest IN....most likely in Valparaiso.

We don't belong to a church and don't want to join one just to get married there. Is it the norm for most churches to require that? I know one local church had on their site that you had to be a member or a child of a member to be married there.

FI's step brother is also a pastor, and we would like it if he could marry us. I have a feeling that a church wouldn't allow someone else to come in and marry a couple.

Any help would be appreciated!

What about venues that aren't churches?  There are a ton in that area I think.

Try Ogden Gardens? What about dressing up your reception site? I dont know what month your planning, but why not have it outside the reception? Thats also a little cheaper of an option.

Hi   If you are considering an outdoor wedding, I would suggest Deep River park. Its about 10 minutes east of Valpo on RT 30.   It is beautiful and can be scheduled through the Lake County parks.  A reasonable venue for your reception would be the Porter Co. Expo center.  (Fair grounds)  Verrrrrrrry affordable and the people are great to work with.  They have 3 rooms available for rental.  One room could be decorated for the ceremony if you choose or it could be a backup for the outside wedding.  Hope this helps.

Ogden Gardens in Valpo or Deep River Park(the Old Mill side) in Hobart are both beautiful if you're willing to go outdoors...

Have you looked at Aberdeen Manor? They have a wedding chapel and outdoor space. They can have both spaces ready in case of rain if you would want it outside. Your wedding would be the only one using the facility as well.
