Help! Shower dates

Hi I am getting married and planning my friends jack and Jill wedding shower..we want to do it in Bristol and have like a 4th of July BBQ style but were having trouble figuring out what date to do it on..the 4th is a Wednesday an we don't want to do it exactly on the 4th so I was thinking either Saturday before or after or the 3rd even though it's a Tuesday..In our area most people don't work the 4th..so I need opnions please!! Thanks!

    I wouldn't do it on the 3rd or the 4th as a lot of people travel for the 4th of July. If I were you, I would probably have it the weekend before the 4th since people may still be on vacation on the weekend after the 4th.

    Weekend before the fourth sounds good to me.  Also, I may be out of the loop... what is a Jack and Jill wedding shower?

    I would do the weekend before. You have a better chance of people being in town for that. I agree most people will go out of town the 3rd.
