Poll: Do you ever take your ring(s) off?

Hi Ladies,

I'm missing my rings (they are getting cleaned and shaped) and thought about how I always thought I would never take them off since  I don't take off other jewerly.  Well, after we got married, my finger started getting all chapped and stuff.  I figured out that when I added the wedding band, it wouldn't be completely dry after washing my hands.  Therefore, I take them off almost every night and give my finger a break as well as make sure I dry it completely.  This has helped tremendously!

Just wondering what all of you do?

I wear mine all day and take it off to shower and sleep. I only do that so that the soap doesn't get caught in all the little sections. Also I take it off when doing something messing like cooking and heavy duty cleaning.

I take mine off whenever I get hot because my fingers swell and I don't like the feeling of it being tight around my fingers.  Most of the time I take off my e-ring and keep my band on though.

I take mine off every night to sleep and then don't put it back on until I shower in the morning.  I also take it off when I'm using strong chemicals.  For the most part though I keep my e-ring on 24/7.  My jewler actually told me sometimes it's bad to sleep with your e-ring on because if you toss and turn you can end up damaging the prongs and then over time the stone may fall out. Not sure if it's true but it sure did scare me.

I wear mine to bed, but not to shower. And not when I'm baking, gardening or lifting weights.

Before I got pregnant, I wore mine all the time except in the shower and to sleep.  Since I am a new mom, my fingers are still slightly swollen, so they are tight and uncomfortable. Now I only wear mine when I leave the house.  :(

I used to wear mines 24/7 and then my finger started getting really dry and irritated- because of all the chemicals for cleaning. I should have known. I got them sautered together so now I take them off for almost everything- washing hands, washing dishes, cleaning, showering, and sleeping. My hands are so much better now.

I wear mine 24/7 pretty much.  for me, taking them off all of the time gives me too many openings to miss place them.  Also when I first got my e-ring i took it off to do the dishes.  my FI hid my ring from me and let me think that I had knocked it into the sink.  I cried and he gave them back to me.  what a meanie, right?  it scared me so much!

I don't wear my e-ring anymore, it's a bit snug when it has to sit on top of the other one.  i love my wedding band, though.  Never take it off.

I take them off in the shower and when we go to the beach.  I also take them off when I need to do gardening and cleaning around the house.

I take mine off when I start getting ready for bed and don't out it back until I'm about to walk out the door for work.

I sometimes take it off when I wash dishes, but always when I cook especially really greasy things.

My worst fear is loosing it.

I agree with Lnc, I don't like to take them off because I'm scared of miss placing them.  So I wear them all the time.  The only times I do take them off is when I put lotion on. Other than that I have them on 24/7.  It's nice to give your finger a break though...so I might start doing that but only at home and maybe it would be a good idea to put a reminder on my phone of where i left it haha with an alarm.

I'm a massage therapist, so unfortunately I have to take my ring off way more often than most brides. In fact, the week I went to get sized, my FI had to buy me a special cable link necklace to wear around my neck 24/7 for my ring. I put it on my neck right before I walk in to the room with a client, and hope to try to remember to put it back on my finger before I go home for the evening. Im constantly checking my necklace to feel for my ring to secure its there. When I'm baking or doing something messy, or even putting hairspray on(while covering my face)I tend to take it off, I'll try to put it on a ring holder my FI sis bought me for xmas. Its on my nightstand and great thing to have!!

I just about never take them off, except when I shower.  But then my mom scared me by saying "what if an earthquake hit--wouldn't you want your rings on you," so now I even shower with them at times.  I do try to protect them, though.  I always wear gloves when washing the dishes, cleaning, etc. and I wear weight lifting gloves when I work out (added bonus: I look "hard core").  In terms of the prongs wearing down on my e-ring, I have the ring checked about every 6 months for wear and will have the prongs re-finished when needed.  I figure that they are meant to be worn all of the time, so why not.
