What is the best time for a beach wedding ceremony?

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and have found lots of useful info. I am now planning my wedding in May 2012. I just rented a vacation home in Duck and will have my ceremony in front of the house on the beach. One thing I need your advice is the time for the ceremony. My wedding is very small and there isn't any formal reception planned. So I want to make the best of the photography time (about 3 hours) by taking some nice portraits. The ceremony time I am considering is 1 or 2pm. But I am afraid that around that time the sunlight (if the weather is nice) might be too strong. There might be a squinting issue or it's fine? I really appreciate that if you can give me some suggestions on best times for photography so I can pick my ceremony time wisely. :-)
