Invites for your priests?

Stupid question, but I honestly don't know the answer.

Do you mail wedding invites to your priests?  I mean, obviously we know they are going to be there for the Mass, but if you don't send them an invite, what is the proper way to get their meal preferences for the reception?

    We treated our Priest just like any other guest - mailed an actual invitation and he mailed back the RSVP.

    Our priest did make sure to tell DH & I that an invitation to the reception wasn't necessary (we already knew that he "always" declined attending rehearsal and reception dinners). He didn't want us to waste paper and postage, I guess.

    Definitely mail an invitation if you haven't had that conversation though.

    priest should get a formal invite just like everyone else.  he shoudl also be invited to your RD in the same manner that you invite the others.

    I sent normal invite to priest like any other guest.  He has already told us he will most likely not be at reception since he will have to celebrate the Saturday night Mass.  He told us he will most likely be at the rehearsal dinner unless there is a parishioners death resulting in a rosary the night before after our rehearsal dinner.  Although it is true priest/deacon knows when & where wedding is I thought it was important to include him with an invite since he is important to our wedding.

    Follow up to this-did you invite him solo, or with a guest?  We're likely having 2 priests officiate our wedding, so the intent is to invite both to the reception.  We're inviting everyone with a +1.  Do we do the same with the priests??

    priests are used to going ot social events alone.  you dont need to extend "and guest" to him IMO (we didnt).

    there is a good chance he wont even come to the reception anyway.  ours didnt but he did come to the RD which he enjoyed.
