Wedding Blog for DUDES!

Hey All,

In doing all the wedding planning with my fiancee, I have learned a bunch of interesting detials and wanted to share it with other men that maybe in the situation.  Please provide me feedback about how I can improve my blog!

Thanks!

Re: Wedding Blog for DUDES!

  • I perused your blog, and found your guest list bit to be particularly offensive.  I don't think it's appropriate to rank your friends based on the amount of money/price of gift you expect to receive from them.

And your advice to over-invite is a big no-no.  What if everybody decides to show up?  Then you're either over budget or over capacity.

One final thing, your overuse of "bro," "dude," and "awesome" were mind numbing.

"Remember that over inviting is okay since depending on how legit you are response rate is going to be (75-90%)."

What does that even mean?  Depending on how legit you are?!?  WTF.

    Terrible advice.  Just terrible.

  • Are you kidding me? You rank your friends based on how much they'll pay for your present? Does having people you love at your wedding mean nothing to you?
    You sound like an ass.
  • I'm not a man, but I also kind of find your blog offensive to the intelligence, language use of most men. My FI doesn't talk like that and would like me, have a very difficult time reading the entire page because it's irritating.

  • I have never hear my DH, our son (who already has his MBA), or our SIL, speak like you do.  You're the male equivalent of a Valley Girl.

I'd give up your dream of being a successful writer.  It's not going to happen,  duuuuuuuuuude.

"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Is the blog suposed to be a joke? I read it as one. My FI laughed after he read it, as did I.
  • Holy hell, you're obnoxious. And your "advice" is terrible. Seriously, rate guests based on how much you think you'll get from them?

    You suck.

  • Dude, like there are more words for men then dude and bro. Know what I mean, dude?

And ranking your guests based on how much money you expect to get from them. Not cool, man (oops, I mean dude).

  • Wow. I didn't expect to get all this feedback. To start, I do apologize if I insulted, annoyed, or offended anyone as that was not my intent. Thanks for all the suggestions. To be quite honest, I wanted to write this blog with a bit of a spin and I think I may have reached out to the wrong audience as it pertains to the subject matter or gone too far? As my note and title suggests, this was meant to be a blog for "Dudes". I will pull back from being overtly "dudish" but I wonder if that defeats the purpose of writing a wedding blog for dudes? Of course my examples are all theoretical, but I believe the point stands that factoring in the right considerations for your guests and agreeing on them with your FI is important. Thoughts on how I might want to still cater to the "dude" but not offend any women (which is not my intention).

    Ummmm - stop writing?

Let your FI proofread what you write?
