The Anchor Inn

Hello all, so I am getting married at the Anchor Inn next September, the venue is owned by Catering by Uptown the same company that owns Celebrations at the Bay and The Villa... is anyone getting married at The Anchor Inn this year or next year?  If so any fed back you could give on the service, the DOC, the food etc I would appreciate!  Thanks girls! =)

I don't have any advice about the Anchr Inn specifically, but I have some Catering by Uptown advice, since I'm getting married at Celebrations at the Bay.

-generally calling works better than e-mailing (even though I'd prefer e-mailing); I often had to wait several days for e-mail responses
-if you have issues, bring them up sooner rather than later, and if you have problems with a specific person ask to deal with someone else.  For example, I really disliked the guy who became the head of planning, and they made it easy and painless for me to stop dealing with him
-Rob Goyena, Jr is a great person to deal with when you have to get something done
-use the planning website; I thought it was just a recommendation, but it's a requirement
-they won't remind you when stuff is due, so enter it in your calendar now (payments, when vendors need to fill out forms, etc)
-my DOC, Darcy, is just so-so.  If you can get Kate Kakoda, I would do that - she handled our two-month planning meeting and we both really liked her

I just re-read my post and I don't mean for it to sound all bad.  So let me add that the food is really amazing, the planning meeting was really smooth, and overall I've been pleased with the whole idea of not having to rent linens, chairs, etc because it's saved me a lot of time and stress!

Thanks for the input Laura, I've been really pleased so far but Im still really far out from the date, we've done two tastings and love the food and we've been working with Eileen LaPlanche who has been a dream.  Im just worried about the venue being so new... but with them having over a year and the reno's being mostly done that it will all work out.

Is Eileen actually your DOC?  For Celebrations, they don't assign a DOC until pretty close to the date.  The original person I was working with was amazing, and hopefully you will have no issues, but just in case you get switched to someone new, keep my first post in mind and know that as long as you remain calm and bring up any problems, they WILL get resolved.

Sorry I have no Anchor Inn comments though!

Laura, Eileen is just the woman who got us booked but she has been helping us plan as far as getting the liens, napkins and place settings we want into our file so that we have them for our date... Im pretty sure she isn't going to be our DOC but I might ask her too just bc we feel super comfortable with her and Im sure if she can do it she will (fingers crossed) she is actually meeting us at the venue this Friday (the 1 year prior anni to our wedding) to show us the place again.

I def appreciate the input even if its not anchor inn related! =)
