Central/North NJ on a limited budget

Hi everyone!
My name is Caitlin and I am just starting out planning for a November 2011 wedding. We live in Baltimore but are having the ceremony in South Plainfield, NJ (my fiance's hometown).   Date has not been completely solidified yet, but it will be on a Saturday.  I'm toying with the idea of having it the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Right now, it's looking to be about 75 guests and I would like to keep it at $65/person before tax.  Good food is important to us, but it doesn't have to be super fancy. I would prefer a venue with some personality and charm within 1 hour of the church.  I was searching around the Princeton/Hamilton area but I am flexible.

Looking at all the prices on here, is this even possible??  I am trying not to panic.

Thanks for all your help ladies!

Pantagis Renaissance in Scotch Plains, NJ (about 20 minutes from South Plainfield).  I haven't been to a wedding there (it can be a bit of a wedding/event factory at times), but I go there for their Sunday Brunch and I always like the food.  It definitely has a lot of character, though I'm not sure if it's the type of personality and charm you're looking for.

The reception center at st. clement in matawan.  Not sure how far it is, but should work with your budget and the food is amazing.  I have a full review in my siggy.

Bridgewater Manor. They are constantly offering promotions around $70 pp. Its a little above your price range but gratuity is only 8% compared with 18% so its actually a little less. The grounds are amazing and the food ti great. We got married there with the same amount of guests. We had the smallest room and loved it!!

Try Lakeside Manor in Hazlet, I know they are less expensive than most.

We're getting married at the Rutgers Gardens in New Brunswick and using their preferred caterer Twin Oaks. They have packages starting at about $59 a person I believe.

I keep reading posts from people recommending the Tides in N. Haledon because it's inexpensive. I went to a wedding there 2 1/2 years ago and was unimpressed though....good luck in your search!
