Cupcake/Bakery Suggestions Needed Please :)

My fiance LOVES cupcakes and wants to do cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. I'm having a hard time finding a good bakery, and am trying to avoid 2.50/cupcake because we are going to have about 270 people.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Lindsey

  • Not sure what area you're in, but  Red Velvet cake shop on Hayes in Clinton Twp= Excellent flavors and good prices...
  • I'm using Just Baked (headquarters are in Livonia, but they've got stores in Birmingham and a bunch of other places).

I think you'll have a hard time finding it for much cheaper than $2.50 per cupcake unless you get mini-cupcakes. Cupcakes can still be cheaper though when you take into account cake cutting fees etc.

I am getting 180 cupcakes from Just Baked, delivered to my venue & set up in a tower, WITH a cake on top of the tower all for $500. When you break that down the cost comes to $2.77 per cupcake, but that is taking into account the rental fee for the cupcake tower along with delivery fees etc.

  • We used Pink Elephant in SCS! They were amazing and people are STILL raving!

  • I used The Cupcake Station. And I have to say their cupcakes were amazing. I am not a huge cake fan, so we liked the options of different flavors. Their cupcakes were really moist, and they were raved about. I think they were even better on the wedding day than in our tasting.
  • I would look into somewhere like Holiday Market, there are locations in Royal Oak and Canton. They have tons of cupcakes there, but not sure if it is cheaper than an actual cupcake bakery, but I definitely think it is worth looking into.

Their website says their cupcakes start at $1.50 and mini-cupcakes start at 75 cents.

  • Our venue is in Southfield so I'm not sure if Clinton Twp is too far? But I have contacted Just Baked and the Cupcake Station, I have not thought of Holiday Market - what a great idea thank you! Never heard of Love and Buttercream but I will absolutely contact them! Where are they located?

    Thanks!

  • I used Just Baked.. You can get cupcakes in different sizes to cut cost. They actually recommended to get maybe only 1/2 to 3/4 of the cupcakes in the large size and the rest in the smaller cupcake size. Not everyone is going to eat a massive cupcake.
Their flavors & topping are AMAZING too!

  • That really is a great idea about getting 2 sizes in cupcakes!

  • We're getting our cupcakes from Whole Foods Market in Ann Arbor. Delicious and all natural! You get a 10 percent discount when you buy them by the case.
