Re: Vote: Long or short dresses?

  • I like long :) I think its really elegant, and something about girls of different heights in short dresses all lined up bothers me.
  • Depends on the time of year.  I like long dresses for fall/winter and short for spring/summer.
  • I typically prefer short :) Unless it is a very formal wedding, then I'd do long.
  • I prefer shorter - like tea or just below the knee (except very formal weddings).  Greater chance the girls can rewear them and I just feel more comfortable in a dress that isn't floor length.

  • I think it really depends on the type of wedding you are having, what time of year, what time of day, outside, inside, etc, etc.  I do think short dresses work for any wedding unless it is a true black tie event and then long dresses are definitely more appropriate.

I would take Liatris advice and ask your BMs what they prefer.

  • Depends on the dress. I like both long and short dresses.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    I like both.

I went with short dresses because we had a summer wedding and if the weather cooperated the ceremony would have been outside. I wanted them to be comfortable.

If they are short dresses, I do not prefer tea length. I think on many girls this length looks awkward and cuts their body in the wrong place. It depends on the dress and body type though. None of my bridesmaids were over 5'5" so we all decided just a little above the knee was much more flattering. A hem that hits in the correct spot on person really makes a difference.

  • Both options are nice but the big thing is what time of year is it, location (part of the united states), and what style of venue are you getting married in.

If getting married at a time of year when it will be colder, long dresses are nice option, it will help keep girls warmer, especially if you want to do any outdoor pictures.

Summer wedding anywhere, I would probably go short unless if you find a nice flowy long dress. Long satin in the summer is not a good idea.

Take that all into consideration and go look at dresses & have your girls try them on & see which style catches your eye.
