Holy high price Batman! Favors Question too!

We were talking the other night about how cute it would be to order personalized colored m&m's for the wedding...forget that! I just looked it up to see how much it would be to order them in our colors and messages...them fools want $129.99 for them! That was for a 5 lb bag of course and I figured we would need about that but good lord man! I bout fell out of my chair!

With that being said, is it rude not to have favors? I'm already spending so much on food, alcohol, and regular beverages that it just seems like too much to do favors too. Is anyone else not doing favors? Has anyone found cheap favors? Yikes!

Re: Holy high price Batman! Favors Question too!

  • Yeah, we looked at those too but couldn't belive the price!  lol  We've decided on just using the different colors M&Ms.  They're still pricey but WAY better than the personalized ones.  :)

As far as favors go, they are nice to have, but if your spending your money elsewhere, then i'm sure everyone will understand.  :)  As far as cheap favors go, you could do something like put a few hershey's kisses in a organza bag and make that it.  People love edible favors, so i would incorporate that somehow.

  • You absolutely don't have to have favors at your wedding. If you'd rather spend the money elsewhere or just not spend it at all, then I think people will understand. Most people don't even notice favors, and if they do, I'm sure they won't care.

I agree with chicken, you could just do regular M&Ms in a little bag, you could do some hershey kisses, or you could do little dinner mints or something.

  • Awesome! Okay now I don't feel like such a bad bride! lol  Thanks!
  • We arent doing favors! people just leave them 75% of the time anyways! we are having a 4 course sit down dinner and an open bar...I just dont think our guests will care about getting  a heart shaped cookie cutter or "love birds" bar of soap lol! remember this is YOUR wedding. you dont have to do anything you dont want to do!!!
  • We are doing a candy buffet and a photobooth. I am not a fan of traditional favors and who doesn't like photobooths and candy?!

  • Yeah, we paid close to $500 for ours.  It was a bit satisfying to eat little pictures of ourselves.
    I'm not good at feelings.

  • I wish we could do a photobooth! I was thinking about having someone with a polaroid and let our guest be silly and fun and take instant snapshots of themselves. Idk! This is just so overwhelming...I'm literally starting to have nightmares!
  • I originally was going to do favors (shotglasses), but I've since decided to put that money to better use elsewhere...like getting better food for everyone to eat.

  • You absolutely don't have to do favors. We did spend about as much as Audgie on ours, they were personalized lip balm tins with different scents made by our caterer (they have a honey farm and make their own). They were supposed to be placed with everyone's place setting but they ended up somewhere else (not even sure where) so we ended up taking about 20% of them home with us :/

  • we are not doing favors we are putting that money into a late night snack.  I just don't think our guest want another favor to take home and not use.  I just think that favors our a waste of money. IMO...do what you want no one will comment on not having favors but will comment on the food that is serviced for dinner. hope that helps.

    This!!

Although FI has nixed the traditional photobooth and wants a red carpet, background, etc  and the photog will take photos and print on-site. (I don't see a big difference but if it gets me the photos like I want then it's win win for me LOL)  Our venue is a reconverted movie theatre so it does 'fit' a little better than just a booth.

  • You can also check out Oriental Trading Company (www.orientaltrading.com) for cheaper ideas.  They have personalized candy and mints that are really cheap and shouldn't run you very much money for what you're looking for.  They even have some Hersheys-brand stuff.
  • We are doing a small favor and donation.  I purchased organza bags and will be ordering retro candy, one from every decade from 1950 to current. Attached to the bag is a tag stating, "In Honor of Our Guests We Have Made A Donation to (a local area community outreach and food bank)"

I feel the favors really highlight our personalities.  Favors or no favors I am certain your guests will be thrilled to be present for such an important day in your life.
