New, Old, Borrowed, Blue?

I've asked this before, but hoping to get some new perspectives..

What is your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue? I am still trying to figure these out!

Re: New, Old, Borrowed, Blue?

  • My something new will probably be whatever new jewelry I buy for the wedding.  I was going to do blue shoes but I don't want to do that anymore (I'm doing magenta instead to match the BM dresses).  My something blue will either be my garter or I *may* buy a cute little blue cocktail dress to change into the last 30 mins of the reception (a friend did this and it was super cute, however, I love my wedding dress and thus would not want to change until the very very end, and then it just seems like a waste).

Something old I was trying to ask my family members if any of them have an old piece of jewerly I can borrow...and I guess that goes for borrowed too?

I'm really lost on this whole thing!

  • I intend to borrow a pearl necklace from a family member- hopefully it will be an old strand of pearls and I'll have both of those covered.

For my something new, I'm going to be buying three little charms to tie onto my bouquet, in memory of my three grandparents who've passed away. The charms will be transferred to a charm bracelet I own after the wedding.

I have no idea what I'm doing for something blue. Do I personally have to wear it? My FI wants to wear blue...

Old/Borrowed: My BM's bracelet from her grandmother who passed away. She let my other BM borrow it for her wedding the year before so it's been a nice tradition.

I followed the tradition/superstition for most of these...

Old: My heart-shaped outline with channel diamond white gold necklace that DH got me for our 1st Christmas together (at the time, 9 1/2 years previously, now 10) - to represent our old life together/the continuity of our relationship.

New: I got a 2011 penny (minted in the year of my marriage) and glued it to the insole of my shoe - it is now one of the keepsakes in my shadowbox of mementos...

Borrowed: I borrowed a pearl & rhinestone bracelet from my aunt (the only piece of jewelry I needed, matched my pearl stud earrings, and the member of my family with the longest standing marriage at 35 years, to bring me similar luck in my marriage)

Blue: The ribbon/bow of my keeper garter was baby blue and the band was diamond white to match my dress with a rhinestone & pearl circlet to match my headpiece (rhinestone headband) and shoes (had a rhinestone embellishment), and the set came from Etsy with a blue horseshoe charm (for luck) to attach to my bouquet...Another one of the keepsakes in my shadowbox Smile

  • Only problem I see with a pearl necklace is that if your gown is white the peas are not pure white and they clash. You can always bring them to your fitting to make sure it is a good match and they look okay
