Ladies, my boyfriend and I have been talking about getting married and what would be a good time frame for us. Him and I seem to be under the impression that "desirable" venues (code for expensive and trendy) in Westchester fill up years in advance for a Saturday summer wedding. Is this overall true from your experiances??

    I definitely do not think it is years in advance.  I think you absolutely need to start looking within one year, but it's definitely not "years".

    We got engaged in January and are planning a Wedding for this September - almost every venue we looked at had some dates this year - even during "prime season" We were willing to be a little flexible and look at Fridays too, which helped (lots of places had fridays even in prime months, but many had some saturdays too..and there were a few saturdays during not-quite prime months but still not even dead of winter)
    I guess if you have a one specific Saturday in mind, then yes, maybe  you need to plan a couple years in advance, but regardless I don't think the need to work around a venue schedule is any reason to rush/push an engagement.

    Thank you! Him and I have been together forever and already live exactly like a married couple and so would definatley by willing to wait years for the Right Westchester venue. But its good to know from what you ladies say I may not have to!

    I definitely don't think it's years, but I do notice they fill up quickly, even into October as that is really popular around here too!

    Oh - one other thing I will mention - be willing to plan a wedding a little more quickly and looking at dates this year has worked a bit in our favor - as places are willing to negotiate more with us since they are trying to fill the remaining dates this year and we are in the minority of booking someone this year instead of next.

    i just got engaged 10 days ago and booked a place for a Sunday in August of this year. There were lots of places available on Sunday. Don't know @ Saturday though.
