name on invitations, RSVP, save the date, etc etc etc...

ok so my last name is hyphenated with my maiden and my previous husband's last name...

what name do I put down on the invitations?

if my name's "Sue McDoe-Johnson"

do I write down "Sue McDoe" or "Sue Johnson" on the mailing stuff (invitations, save the date, etc...) ?? I'm really stuck on this!

I read in one of the articles here it will dependon how most of your invitees know you as.

For myself, when I do the invitations, etc... I plan on just using my maiden name, even though legally my name is still my ex's name.  Everyone I invite does know me or at least knows of my maiden name, so I don't think it will be an issue.  I just feel really odd putting my ex's name on my new marriage invites and such.

Good question! I didn't think about that yet. I think I will put First Maiden Married just in case anyone, outside of my family, forgets what my maiden name is. I've had that married name for 20 years now, so, it's kind of ingrained with people. I am changing my name to FI's once we are married.

Yeah I agree with PhoenixMama. Put your maiden name. Or you can even just put first and middle names. That's what we did:

    Bride First Middle
    &
    Groom First Middle
    Groom Last Name

I used my exhusband's name.  It's how people know me, and to be honest, I have no real connection to my maiden name.  My children have my ex's name, so that's the name the I'm most connected to.

I opted for putting our family names - the D  and S families invite you to..,.....etc. I didn't want my married name and most people don't know my maiden name. It seemed like an easy fix! :)
