Hairstylist cancelled - need some recs!

So...Just got a call from my hair stylist (Monique Madrid) and she has to cancel on me, as she and her husband got a job to do Second City work for a cruise ship and leaving the day of my wedding.  I am looking for someone to come to my condo in the city to do hair for me and 6 of my bridesmaids.  Any recommendations?  I know the other stylist I wanted to hire is booked, so I'm kind of nervous.  Thanks guys!

    I used the Sharon Daniels Salon and they were great (funnily enough, I was booked with Monique too before booking with Sharon Daniel due to a conflict in her schedule).  Full review and contact in my sig.

    Edit: you might also want to ask Monique to help you find someone.  I think it is only fair considering her canceling now may make it difficult to find someone that is available.

    Sorry, I don't have any recommendations, but that must be the Norweigan Epic which FI and I are considering for our HM.

    Thats terrible. I remember about a year ago she did something similar where she cancelled on a few people.

    I also remember several posts where she has cancelled on numerous people.  I am sorry that happened to you.  I have heard really good things about Morgan Blaul as well.

    Yea- that is LAME...so unprofessional. Sorry that happened. Im using Beauty oncall. They have several different levels of stylist so they can work with different budgets.

    wow you'd have no idea that monique madrid cancels out on people so much both now and in the past going by her reviews on yelp.

    its too bad because all the reviews get buried and lost in the knots of the interweb. i wish more people wrote about their wedding experiences on yelp because those seem to stay up for a long time.

    I almost signed with her, and she emailed me the same thing.  I'm in the same dilemma, gotta find a makeup/hair vendor.  Did you give her a downpayment?  Will you get it back?

    Hey creyes523 - yeah I sent her a deposit, and she said she would mail it out to me this week.  She gave me three names to contact, but it sounds like they are all makeup artists, when I just need hair.

    I was about to book with her also.  She had just sent me the contract last week and then cancelled Monday...and two of the three recs she sent do only makeup.

    It is really sad.  For someone that is so talented, she doesn't really seem to have the business end figured out.  She seems to screw a lot of brides over.

    In the end I'm glad she canceled on me (because I got a much better deal and new salon out of it) but had I not been able to find someone things would've been much worse.  She kept saying how bad she felt but seeing as she does this often, how bad does she really feel?

    I'm so sorry to hear that Monique had to cancel on you. I've been raving about her because she did my wedding a couple weeks ago and I loved her. Have you tried Shannon Gail (a.k.a. Shannon Helmig)? I was considering her for hair, and my communications with her were all very positive.

    She canceled on me too for makeup. While I was bummed to start the process over again- to be fair, it isn't entirely unreasonable of her to cancel with a good amount of notice (seven months in my case.) I mean, when I booked her, she told me I could cancel up to 6 weeks before. I'm going with her sister Briette who was recommended by a coworker (www.makeupbybriette.com) My trials coming up soon, can't wait!

    I took cuitypie11's recommendation and booked a trial with Kim Piech.  I just had the trial this morning, and it went really well!!  Just thought I'd second the recommendation in case others are still looking for a new hair/MU artist.  She came to my house for the trial and will be doing on site services for my wedding.
