Typical Cost for a DJ plus recommendations?

Hi,

I know I saw a post a few weeks ago about dj's, but I can't seem to find it. I am desperately trying to plan my wedding to be at the New Haven Lawn Club and really have to stick close to my budget. I haven't been to a CT wedding in quite a while, I so don't know a lot of the vendors in the area. Can you ladies share with me an estimate price you paid for your Dj and any recommendations you may have?

    I'm using Zach Dauphinais (musictogoct.com) and I would highly recommend checking him out! He's great with his communication and he's an on-air DJ in Eastern CT so he's very music savvy!  He's also young which is also something that my fiance and I were looking for.

    Hopefully I'm not quoting his prices incorrectly, but I believe he is currently around 850/950, and that depends on how many different set ups you need.  He's doing the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.  His site is musictogoct.com.

    DJ Melee! If I remember correctly, he charges about $800 for the night.

    The 2 above seem to be the most popular on these boards.  We are booked with DJ Melee, but you should know, not all DJ's are priced as low as these 2 guys.  We met with 2 others as well and they were upwards of $1700.  My brother is also planning his wedding and his friend works for a DJ company and normally charges $1500 I believe but is giving him a break.  Definitely search around and let DJ's know when you aren't interested.  Their prices vary so much as I said, but they also seem to harass you more than other vendors do and take it personally if they aren't selected.  Just beware of this.

    We are using Local Motion out of East Haven and they are amazing to work with! They're standard rate is $1500, but he worked with us on budget since we had recommendations and were paying $1200 for our ceremony and reception, a total of 5.5 hours. We have seen him at previous weddings and he was simply awesome!
