<3 One year from today!!!!! <3

I cant believe its exactly one year from the day that we will be getting married!!!! LIke everyone else on this board I am also a full time student and I also work full time. I have a lot on my plate, but every spare minute I have I look at wedding ideas. Its time to get the ball rolling on my projeccts, and I am just nervous. How do you manage to divide up your time between work and school and planning a wedding???? I was thinking about taking the spring semester off before my wedding, any ideas on this? Is this a good or bad idea?

  • We're also getting married in one year!!!!  So exciting!  I don't have any advice for taking a semester off because we'll both graduate before the wedding.  However, back in the late 80's, my parents got married after getting their 2 yr degrees from Nursing School, with every intention of getting their bachelor's soon after, but then I came along much sooner than they were anticipating, and even though neither of them stopped working and while mom said that she doesn't regret any of us or getting married right after nursing school, she does wish someone had told her just how hard it was to be a young mom and a student.  She tried to take a few classes when I started Kindergarten, but between working in the ER full time and everything else, she didn't get her bachelor's until 2004, and Dad just got his about a month ago, the same day my brother got his associate's.  I don't know what y'alls "family plans" are, but just evaluate taking a semester off just to plan, and then life happens and you're not able to go back for longer than you were planning.
  • I wouldn't take a semester off, you may never go back. Its easier to just stay in the "school mode" until it is all over. Ask your friends, family and FI for help if you need it! Even if you don't think its FIs "thing" he might surprise you.

  • I am a really goal oriented person so i personally wouldnt take off skool for planning a wedding. I have no help since i am the first in my family to have a wedding, but look im sure you can manage. Im in skool and studying for the mcat, it will be ok. just make deadlines for depostis and on weekend or whenever u have a spare moment spend a dedicated moment to planning, and actually get something done[i.e order invitations or call and make appts for vendors] good luck!
  • I think i have the same date, and I'm also graduating next may. I'm seeing how much I can get done before I decide, but my school will let me grad and walk across stage if I only need less than 6 credits (to be done in the summer) so that's my back up if I choose to take a lighter course load-check details (mine lets me only if they're not required classes, just credits) just knowing this makes me feel better :)

<div>Are you sure you're in school, because you can't seem to spell it correctly. Maybe it's time to sign up for an english class.</div>
  • BAD IDEA!!! finish you degree so you can have a good paying job!! youve been working for this for years!! getting out of school asap is the best thing so you can start saving for a house, kids, ect. i had a moment of thinking of taking off for a while. i was offered a job in my field (as a botanists assistant) and would have to take off for summer anf fall semester. i talked to my mom, my boyfriends mom, and they gave me good advice and told me not to. instead of taking off, i'm trying harder to complete my degree. i'm taking 2 summer classes right now, and 4 classes in fall, 4 in spring, then 2 in the summer and then i'll be done!
