Undergarments for dress shopping

Hi there -

I'm new to the Boards but wanted to say Hi and ask the opinions of those of you that have already bought your dresses.  I have appointments at 2 bridal shops on 2/18.  I've been told to bring a strapless bra with me.

However, I think I also want to bring Sspanx, or something of the sort, to help out my bumpiness.  Did any of ya'll use Spanx and, if so, which one did you use and where did you get it?  I know nothing about them and have never worn them.  (I have gained 90 lbs in 3 years due to health problems so I'm at a total loss).  I'm a big girl now and thought I'd go to the experts.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Undergarments for dress shopping

  • For dress shopping, I just wore a good normal bra and modest underwear.

Some corset dresses, I promise you, you won't need the spanx for. In a few of the dresses I put on, my stomach actually looked flat.

I didn't buy a strapless bra until after I'd bought the dress, but many people are saying (plus size also) that they just had cups sewn in/the dress had enough support. I'm a G cup. I needed the bra ;)
  • I wore a strapless for my dress fitting then later bought spanx from lane Bryant. I wore them to my alteration session.

  • Like a PP said I wore regular modest underwear, and a long line bra that I ended up buying from the shop. I wore spanx to my fittings.
