Friday the 13th?

We were thinking of having a Friday night wedding to save some money on the venue.  Do you think the venue would offer an additional discount if we booked a Friday the 13th date?  We're not superstitious at all so it doesn't matter to us.  Is that generally a difficult date for venues to fill?  Or do people not care?  Thanks!

I would say that most people would not care. You will prob get the same Friday discount- which can be big at some places.

I don't think Friday the 13th is a big deal at all and since there's normally I wouldn't count on an additional one.

I agree that you're unlikely to able to get an additional discount beyond anything the venue offers for Friday night vs. Saturday -- but a less popular date can still save you money in other ways, because a lot of the affordable-but-nice vendors (catering, photography, music) seem to book up more quickly.  Friday in general will help with that, too, but we have a date that wouldn't have been anyone's first choice, and talking with other brides/couples, it seems that people getting married a month after us are finding their top choice photographers booked and having to either lower expectations or raise their photo budget, while I had no problem finding two very affordable ones I liked a lot who were both available for our date, so my problem was choosing which one!

Some places offer a discount on Sundays as well. Personally, I didn't want a Friday wedding because that means people have to take time off of work to go to your ceremony. We liked Sunday because our reception wouldn't have to go until midnight, we had Saturday to get last minute stuff done, and local people wouldn't get quite so crazy at a dinner wedding due to work in the AM. Oh, and our ceremony time was whenever we wanted. Most places try to fit 2 weddings in on Saturday, so their start and end times are very rigid, but they only do one event on Sundays, so you can do whatever time you like. The only bad thing is that we can't have our rehearsal dinner the night before, but most of our wedding party is local to the state, so it's not a big deal.

Just another thing to think about.
