Embarrassing questions – B-pics

Warning - TMI?!?

So- I have to ask. Maybe you girls can help - and sorry if this is weird- but I need advice and help - everything you can tell me about B-pics! I am going to do them with Jenn (the photographer offering the special that Queen B!tch recommended). I am completely in the dark here. I actually barely knew what they were. This is waaay out of my element - but since it is waaaay out of my element, I think FI will be totally surprised and shocked on wedding day! The things we do for love, right? ahah. Anyway! Soooo do tell- everything! Where did you get your outfits? What did you do? What was it like? Any tips when taking photos? How far in advance did you do your "prep" (if you know what I mean) - I've never even gotten that done!

Aghhh I am totally freaking out!!! If you want to PM me instead, that is welcomed too!

You go girl!  You're braver than I am.  I didn't do any, so I can't help, but I'm proud of you!  There are quite a few girls on her that have done them though, so hopefully you'll get some good advice.

if you are blonde, pastel colors and white are best...if you are brunette/dark hair, then bright vibrant colors are good. This is what I was told when I had a consult with my photog.

..now that I think about it, I'm going to pm you!

I'm glad you posted this!!! I'm glad I'm not alone! I would be too shy to admit it! B-pics are COMPLETELY out of my element, too! I'm REALLY REALLY nervous/awkard...

I actually booked Jenn, too, after the recs from Queen B!tch and another knottie. (o; I was going to do it with another photographer that knew my family & etc, but said photographer was charging $175 (which was actually a steep discount 'cause we know her- she usually charges $400 to START) plus I had to drive aaaall the way up to S. Portland, ME. Even though I have family in S. Portland, it's a 4-hr drive from Hartford. Ehh. SO far.

Anyway, FI's nosey. So he glances at what I'm doing (obviously, I had to google b-pics for inspiration haha) on the screen and is like, "WTF is that?!" Long story short, we're doing b-pics as a couple. (o:

I'm thinking of buying lingerie outfits at VS and at Frederick's. ... And FI wants to rip some.... so the ones he wants to rip, I'll buy at TJ Maxx/Marshalls- lol.

I was told by vets on the Boston board that they took shots of alcohol for their b-pics! I will probably do the same! Lol.

As for prepping... I'm not too sure. I'm planning on getting my nails/hair/make up done as well. Hair and makeup will most likely be done by Naomi- especially since she gets RAVES on the board and I have a coupon that I wasn't able to use before and Naomi told me I could use it at a later time. Also, FI and I are in the midst of losing weight... so I'm hoping we look good.

    Melko- you should PM me tips, too!! (o;

Get a brazilian.  It sucks but you'll be thrilled with the results when its over.  You can pop a couple ibuprofen an hour before the appointment to help with the discomfort.  Just listen to the lady doing your waxing...tension makes it easier for her and less painful for you, so when she places your hand in certain areas to help her, don't be shy!  (ie, putting your hand on your lower abdomen and pulling up toward your head to create taught skin  for her to wax)

    Good luck!

I agree on taking some pain relievers before the waxing!!

I have to say, I cannot wait to do mine! I am sure I will be nervous, but that is what wine and friends are for!!!

I think you have to think about what you are doing--giving them to FI/soon to be your DH and he is going to LOVE them regardless!!! Just relax, ask your photographer questions--they will also tell you what looks best, how to stand, etc. So they will give you a ton of pointers!

Raw just posted a video on this last week that I thought was really informative!

God was smiling on women when the Brazilian was invented.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

If you have never had it done, it is PAINFUL the first time.  I would say get it done at least 3 to 5 days before the shoot.  Believe it or not, the top hurts the most and it gets less painful as you go down/back.

The closest in proximity you should get them done is 4 weeks because the wax  needs long enough hair to grab.  If you are used to shaving down there everyday, it will take some getting used to see/feel hair again in between appointments.  But it comes in WAY less and WAY finer.  If you keep up with it, the hair will never fully come back.

It has changed my life.  And I love my aesthetician.  My friends and I refer to her as "Saint."

Taking B-Pics is about feeling sexy and free and just being you.  It allows you to show a side of you that not many people see.  It’s not about how skinny you are or if you have a nice body or not.  It's about feeling beautiful in your own skin, and trust me you will feel beautiful.

I can not tell you how happy I was when I saw my pictures.  I've always been comfortable with who I am, but these pictures actually empowered me, basically my head got really big, I had a moment of OMFG I'm hot, and it made me so confident, I could've put my pictures up against any VS model and been ok with it.

So when you do it, just go in be confident and have fun!!!

And if you want to see a few of my pix just let me know.

ohhh god i'm a brazilian veteran lol.  i've had them done for years and years and years.  ZoetheDog gives good advice...go at least 3-5 days prior to the shoot, you'll want the redness to be gone (especially if it's your first one).  also, they might not get every.last.hair, so you may want to shave anything left the day before the shoot.

honestly, brazilians are PAINFUL, but worth every damn second of it.  a good waxer will do it all in about 20 minutes.  and have them flip you over!!  you'll see what i mean when you're on the table LOL

i dunno where in the state you'd be looking to go, but I can HIGHLY recommend Body & Sole Day Spa in West Hartford for waxing.

good luck, and rock your bpics!!!!!!  i want to do them SO BAD but i don't have the guts yet LOL

Oh no! Don't be nervous! Well.. I sure was.. haha! But let me tell you once I was in my first outfit and the pictures starting snapping, all my nerves vanished and I started having a great time. I was upset though because I had a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge ready to go and then I left it at home... so even if you don't bring wine you'll be fine!

The session will make you feel so beautiful and sexy and you kinda feel like a model on a photo shoot, it's such a neat feeling! And once you get your pictures back you'll be so happy and then when you give them to your FI his jaw will drop! :0)

That is awesome! I am so glad to hear you are going with her.  She really will make you comfortable!

A couple b pic that is awesome.  I have never heard of that.  It sounds like a great idea.

If you have any questions about Jenn, email me.  I cannot say enough good things about her.

If I remember correctly, she took a bpic class that was given by RAW photography.  I looked into RAW, but it was soooo expensive.

I go to Greg and Tony's for the Ouidad (curly hair cut). I have really curly hair and I swear the first time I got my hair done there (Ouidad cut and style) my hair never looked better. They are a bit pricey, but to me it's totally worth it.

I'm also very loyal to the Ouidad products (you can order them online or buy them at G & Ts)... they are GREAT. I feel like I've tried every product line in drug stores, etc. and the Ouidad ones are the best.

Sorry if I hijacked this thread with hair talk :)

That is what I did!!  Our 1 year anniversary is in July and I had my bpics done with Raw the end of April.  I got the proofs back last week and they are HOT!   There is only one pic I don't like because I know my waist isn't *that* tiny and I know my chest is not *that* huge.

As far as shopping, I got one outfit from a Chantelle boutique sale on RueLaLa.com so keep your eye out for those.  I think ideeli.com has a lingerie boutique going on today.

I got some stuff from H&M.  Some I had from my lingerie party before my wedding.  And I got just one outfit from Victoria's Secret.  I really tried to stay away from VS stuff.

    Happy shopping!
