Just Engaged and Proposals

New to the game ! Young and inexperienced !

I am planning on getting married to the love of my life , and it seems like we have no support . Although we are only 20 - we have a family, and a home , and we love each other . We both know this is what we wanna do, and since we are doing this alone - I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. I was tempted to have a planner , but its an extra $2,000. So I wanna do it alone . WHERE DO I START?

  • The Knot has a fun checklist! It starts with picking a venue and date. It's helpful! Good luck :)
  • I agree with pp, use the checklist on this site.  It's actually really helpful.  Once you pick a date, your month board can be super helpful as well, at least mine is.  Congrats on getting engaged!

  • The Knot checklist is really helpful! Just read a lot on this website and look at Pinterest for wedding ideas :) I'm sure you have friends and family who are willing to help too, or who know information about venues, etc. Just ask them.

  • The knot is super helpful, but I suggest googling everything from tutorials on how to make decorations to invite lists and seating down to the last detail.

The best advice I was given is DELEGATE! hehehe give the closest people around you little tasks that you know they will enjoy, turn the card making into a slumber party!

You will definitely need a planner for the day though,

<div>My family and friends have way too much on their plates to spend their precious time helping me make and do things for a party. </div><div>
</div><div>OP, just take things one step at a time. Talk with your FI and get his input. Start with a budget and look for a venue. Prioritize what you really really want and go from there. You'll do great! And keep in mind, life goes on for yourself, your FI, and your family and friends. Your whole engagement period shouldn't revolve around weddingweddingwedding. </div><div>

I disagree, you definitely do not need a planner, and you definitely do not need to delegate to your friends and family.  Delegate to your fiance, it's his wedding too.  Spend some time lurking on this site, I learned about things I never even thought to consider.  Good luck and happy planning!
