Help!! Finding our honeymoon

My fianc and I are getting married Sept 22 and we have yet to make any kind of decision where to go for our honeymoon. Initially we wanted to go to Europe but we just don't have the budget for that. We aren't cruise, Mexico or resort type people we'd like somewhere different. But we're definitely on a budget as in less than 2,000total. I've exhausted every search engine trying to find even a city to stay in, let alone a hotel/house/etc. Any suggestions would be WONDERFUL!!!

Re: Help!! Finding our honeymoon

  • We're going to california!  We're not resort/cruise kind of people either.  We like to do a mixture of urban/cultural/scenic things.  SoCal is great for that because it has a little of everything.  We're doing LA and San diego.  You could definitely do either for that budget.

What kind of things are you looking for?  We also thought about doing Florida.  Great beach towns, towns with nightlife, and, of course, themeparks.

Other ideas:  new york, colorado, new orleans.... are you looking for nightlife?  themeparks?  beach? mountains? museums?

  • That sounds great!! We've thought about CA a little bit. We just weren't sure of flights. We're in ky. I guess it wouldn't cost much more than flying anywhere else. Up for anything really beach, mountains, museums. We aren't much for the nightlife scene but love good food, shopping, definitely anything outside is great. We actually did a lot of research on Florida too : In the end we ruled it out because we figured that would be an easy trip for us to take one day with kids or just further down the line. We wanted somewhere where we wouldn't easily have the opportunity to go in the next few years, ya know?
  • what about key west or new orleans?

  • Consider Nashville too. It's very close so you can drive, then you can go to a much fancier hotel and eat at the best restaurants the whole time! Tons of outdoor stuff, museums, live music, good food.

New Orleans is also a good choice.
  • If it were me I'd probably just plan a road trip, taking 5 days up and 5 days back. If you are having a hard time solifying for yourselves a specific target, this answers your question because you can see a lot of different places. Drive up through the middle of the Atlantic states, then drive back home down the coast?

Also, Washington DC is well worth at least 5 days, you can find hotels on the outskirts for less than $200 a night, and the museums are free. It's a great place to go if you have never been. The Metro subway goes way into the outskirts and you can take it into the city. Hotels in the city are pricier, plus they charge you for a garage fee nightly.

If you guys like sports, you could drive up to Akron OH and see the NFL hall of fame, then drive over to Cooperstown in NY to see the MLB hall of fame, then come back down the coast from NY-DC then home.

    Good luck.
