Rehearsal Dinners in Newport

Does anyone have recommendations for a rehearsal dinner location on the water in Newport? I'm checked out the Mooring but the only room that can accommodate my 50 guests had an 8k minimum. I am having about 50 people and our budget is a 5k max. I have 22 Bowen's menu as well but I worry we will run into the same issue. Any other suggestions? My wedding is in Belcourt Castle, so I really want something on the water since my wedding is not. Also, my fiance already nixed the idea of a clambake :( He wants a nice steak dinner. Thanks in Advance!

What about the Atlantic Beach Club? It isn't in the downtown part of Newport but is literally right on the beach and you don't have to worry about parking. The food is really good and the prices are reasonable.  I don't think we had any kind of event minimum. You have the option to rent out an inside room or the outside patio. I've also heard good things about The Pier restaurant in Newport but I don't know where that falls price wise.

we had ours at the atlantic beach club and it was great. right on the water and we did a lobster bake. we held ours outside and it was a beautiful night. we only had about 40 people but they could definitely hold more.

We had our rehersal dinner/family gathering at 22 Bowens and honestly it was well worth the cost. Our guests raved endlessly about the place.

Did you speak to the Mooring yet about your budget conern?  We had a dinner with our parents/siblings (10 people) at the Mooring two nights before our wedding.  Originally we had considered reserving one of their private areas and the minimum they quoted us was way too high for 10 people at the Mooring.  I mentioned this to them and they agreed to reduce it significantly.  In the end we just reserved a table on the patio which was great for us.

I will say though that the Mooring isn't really the place for a "steak dinner" so you may want to keep that in mind.

Try Buskers in Newport.  I saw in the local paper that they don't charge a room fee for their private upstairs room area.  It's right in downtown Newport.  Worth a shot!

How many people did you have and how much was the final cost?  I am very interested in having my rehearsal dinner there.

With our meal and wine choices that we madeand a guest list of about 59 people it ran about $5300.
Everything was EXCEPTIONAL from the staff to the food!

Try Brick Ally Pub.  They're right on Thames Street and have a great upstairs banquet room.  Their food is exceptional and they have a huge menu.
    Good Luck!!

We are having ours at Atlantic Beach Club - $49/person + cost of beverages.  Right on the water.  Working with Elaine and she is AMAZING!!!  She is a huge wealth of knowledge and gave us the inside scoop on just about any/every vendor you could work with in Newport.  She offered to help out with any aspect of our wedding that she could (we're at Belle Mer), even though we're only doing rehearsal dinner with them.  One of the best experiences I've had so far in dealing with any vendor!!!
