affordable photographer in charleston

Hey, y'all! I am looking for an afforable photographer in Charleston to do both engagement (if I can afford them) and wedding photos. ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Most of the ones I've found are about $250 for an engagment session, and I just can't afford that.

I have a spreadsheet of the cost of about 100 photographers in Charleston from when I picked one but it was for 8 hours of coverage. Many of them include or require the engagement shoot to get to know you. If you don't mind me asking what is your budget for engagement and wedding photography.

I know alot of the local photographers will give you a reduced rate if you book them for your wedding. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that in case I wasn't happy with the way the pictures turned out. Like the previous post I found most require an engagement shoot as a get to know you session. You find a few a la carte photographers in the area that allow you to choose just the engagement session at a reasonable price. If really depends on quality work as there are tons of photographers in the Charleston area that will do an engagment session for 100.00. Problem is the work is horrible in most cases. I went with Chi Photography of Charleston www.chiphotographyofcharleston.com. She was in the 200.00 to 250.00 range, but my mom paid for the session. You may start with there, but not knowing your budget doesn't allow for other suggestions. I had a list of about 35 or 40 photographers so I have a large price range that I can pass along.

Hello,

I live in Wilmington, NC a few hrs from Chareleston. I want to get married under a LIve Oak tree and am looking for a reputable photographer that is affordable.

This is my second wedding so it will be very small...only family so about 20 ppl. We are only spending about $2000 total and are not doing the traditional wedding. Just getting married, take great photos and renting a room within a restuarant for dinner and have a cake and just celebrate with our family. Pretty simple.

The problem is I do not relate to the big weddings and cannot find any info about doing a small wedding/non-traditonal. I did the big wedding for my first marriage, mostly DYI and did a fantastic job but sitll spent about $13,000 at a country club and church. I do not want to do that again.

I cannot seem to find any affordable photographers I can hire just for the wedding and a few hrs after to take photos. We are looking at Magnolia Plantation for the scenery and taking photos downtown. Also thinking about Angel Oak Park or Hampton Park. It is alot more expensive to just do a simple 20 person wedding for a few hrs than I thought! We want to focus on traveling more than the wedding and I am very savy and can make all the decorations myself.

I noticed about a woman had a spreadsheet. If you are still on here I would be very grateful if you could send it. We need engagement and wedding photos. We plan on hiring for about 4 hrs and most likely Thurs-Sun, one of those days, depending on location.

Thanks in advance for any help. It is a lot harder to find info than I planned. We are planning this spring or fall.

I would check out Gillian Ellis Photography www.gillianellis.com. She has very reasonable rates and is super friendly and easy to work with. She gave us our photos only a week after our wedding.
