bridal shower questions from a bridesmaid

Had to delete the original post.  The bride is a knot member and I don't want her seeing what we're planning on here!

I was the MOH for a friend this past summer.  For her bridal shower we briefly looked into having it at a restuarant, but as you saw, it can get very expensive very quickily.  I personally find it really rude and tacky to charge guests to come to the shower.  Also personally as a guest I wouldn't come if I was expected to pay that much plus buy a gift.

We ended up having it at someone's house, and her mom and I just maid all the food on our own.  It was much less expensive.  Total, not including gift, I spent about $150.  (There were only two of us contributing money though)  There was no alcohol which helped keep the cost down.  Almost all the bridal showers I've been to have just been in someone's home and they all turned out really nice.

Also, while the bride may hint what she wants, she really can't be too involved with the planning.  To me it seems a little rude of her to suggest having it at a restuarant if she knows your unemployed.  Try to maybe incorporate some of her suggestions (maybe have her favorite food at the shower or something), but don't go broke over this.  She should be appreciative of whatever kind of shower you throw her.

    Good luck!

You figure if each of you contribute that amount (or less, whatever works for you) you could have a really nice party! I never heard of charging guests either until someone posted on one of the other boards.  But anyays, good luck with everything! As a former MOH, I know it can be really stressful sometimes.  Smile

I know mine will be held at the clubhouse in my apt complex.  Its very cute.  I reserved the room and my bridal party is providing the food/beverages/decorations/etc.
