Winter wedding photo ideas??

I am getting married on New Years Eve this year (why I picked a winter month to get married is is beyond my thought process, guess I didn't think that one through). We live in Wisconsin so there is sure to be snow on the ground (or heaven forbid, a snowstorm or blizzard) so does anyone have any neat ideas for outdoor or winter wedding photo ideas? Maybe if you have pics to post, that would be a good help to. I don't want all of our pictures to just be the ones in the church. I've looked into doing them at our local historic buildings and they want to charge $1,000 for ONE hour use of their facilities (my hall rental is cheaper than that)
So any help would be greatly appreciated!!

they charge so much cause they know it is for commercial use. the price is negotiable at most places.

Get yourself a really nice fur or faux fur coat and try to do pictures outside. Winter wedding photography is beautiful, though a little nontraditional. You just have to be dressed for it. Otherwise, I would see if there are any botanical gardens or train stations that might be cheaper, even free.

Oh yes, outdoor winter wedding pictures can be just breathtaking!  For other ideas, I'd look into local B&B's (many have beautiful 'great room's) , hotels (some have amazing lobbies!), museums... do you have an acquarium/ aboretum / butterfly conservatory nearby? How about a favourite restaurant or bar that's special to you two? Or a library?  City Hall? Or maybe even a friend's home who has a spectacular stairway you can use?   A greenhouse?  You really just need the simplest of backdrops to make it work.   Oh.. another thought... have you spoken with your photographer? Many photographers have a indoor studio they use depending on weather or will at least have ideas of where to go if you can't be outdoors.
    Good luck!

If you are getting married neaer downtown - get pics along the Riverwalk and the in the Third Ward.  We did our e-pics in Feb. down there - http://www.lisamathewson.com/blog/kristen-joel-engaged-milwaukee-wedding-photographer/

I don't know too much about Wisconsin, but I'd be willing to bet that a lot of places will still have twinkle lights out post Christmas. Like previous post mentioned - grab yourself a fur/faux fur little jacket or wrap and get some pictures somewhere outside that you know will have the trees lit up - that should have a real winter-wonderland feel (if you can stand the cold).

Also, are there any pretty college campuses around town? I got married at a church near my alma mater, and UNC (go Tar Heels!) has some really pretty botanical gardens and lawns full of old trees and stone walls. It cost us nothing to go around the campus gardens to take these pictures (both for our wedding and engagement) - other than the price of the photographer, of course :)
