XP - flowers after the wedding...?

I found some services that do things like dry/preserve your flowers in a vase or press them into photo frames.  I'm contemplating doing the photo frame but I'm trying to decide if saving them is silly or not.  I also thought of drying them and taking the petals to put in a bowl or popourri type container.

Thoughts/ideas?  What are you ladies doing with your flowers after the wedding?

We want to donate them to cancer patients. I haven't quite figured out how, but I will find out.

  • I am not a very sentimental person about things like that, so mine will probably end up in the garbage after they die. However, I do think the photo frame is a cool idea if you do want to preserve them. My mom did this and still has hers hanging on the wall over 25 years later.
  • I would love to save mine, but I haven't looked into any services like that in my area. I think the idea of pressing and framing them would be the route I would go. :)

I like the idea of pressing and framing the flowers from my bouquet, I think that is very sweet.

As for the centerpieces, I will probably allow guests to take them home. I will do something like put a star under someone's plate or something to designate who gets to take it.

  • I have heard of people freeze drying their bouquets and putting them in a shadow box.. that's an option too. My arrangement is silk (very real looking, very expensive silk flowers) so I am definitely keeping mine :)

  • We bought a plastic christmas ornament - we're going to dry the bouquet and stick some petals in the ornament after it's dry.  I thought it was a cute preservation idea that won't just sit in a box for the rest of our lives:)

  • ohhh, i like the ornament idea!  The pricing varies for the pressed frames, so maybe i'll do a smaller one, and then put petals in an ornament.  =)

  • Mine will already be dried! (I'm having dried flower bouquets.) I had originally thought I'd have made the bouquets myself from bulk flowers or gotten paper flowers or felt, etc. Then I found these gorgeous dried bouquets and it was the perfect solution- less expensive than live but still real!
