Dessy Twist Wrap dress

Has anyone used these for bridesmaid dresses? Can you share your experience if you have? Were they easy to tie? Was the material flattering for all shapes?

We had originally found a dress in the boutique where I got my dress, however I'm now having second thoughts, not to mention I think they're way too expensive ($200! before tax). I did ask all of my girls for their budget individually, and they all gave me pretty much the same answer "Whatever you like best is what we'll get"... kind of infuriating />.< and no matter how hard I tried to get a concrete answer, they kept saying the same thing.

I like the idea of the twist wrap dresses, as I want them to have a dress they can wear again. Not to mention they get 7 dresses in one and they look pretty comfy!! My girls are pretty much on board for whatever I choose, so if you guys have any opinions, I'd love to hear them

(This is the dress we originally chose: http://www.alfredangelobridal.ca/collections/productdisplay.aspx?productID=01cb235d-9d96-41f9-8bae-0305d9b5c928&categoryID=053f22f3-72d9-4a6d-af34-392c45fe8c96&pg=2&colorId1= )

  • Make sure to have your girls try a dress on before asking them to wear it. With a jersey in a solid color, you run the very common risk of showing every bump, lump, and imperfection in a woman's body. That includes even the bellybutton!

[QUOTE]I wore one once as a BM and hated it. Of 5 BMs only one didn't completely hate it. They show every lump, bump, roll, and panty line and they are really thin. I honestly felt like I was standing up there in a night gown.

Agreed. I very very briefly thought about picking these. But once I felt the fabric, I said no. It felt like a cross between cheap silk and swimsuit material.

  • I also wore one as a bridesmaid... although I didn't HATE it, I'd recommend passing on it. They were easy to tie initially but we were constantly having to adjust them. All of us had problems keeping them in place on our chests (even those ladies who were more flat chested). And our were red on the top, black on the bottom, which ended up being a pain, because the part that you wrapped around your waist kept rolling and the black would show through. Eh. I will say, though, that we got a TON of compliments on them. People loved that they were the same dress with different ways to tie the tops.
  • Thanks so much for your insight ladies. After reading your comments and some reviews online, definitely not down with this dress anymore!

Although the problem seems to have solved itself; my girls all got together (without me) and looked on the AA sight and found a dress they all loved (that they all actually had already tried on!) and I'm really happy with it too! (AA #7123, in Tealness, with the sash in Forest :) ). And on top of that, my mom, amazing lady that she is, offered to pay for all of their dresses, big surprise to all of us, but really generous of her :)
