Do I have to have a seating chart??

Hey girls,
I am dying at the thought of a seating chart.  My fiancee's mom and step mom HATE each other (last time the mom saw the step mom she slapped her in the face), and there are going to be a lot power struggles at the wedding as his dad is well off financially and I am sure the step mom is going to expect a lot of attention and thanks for the help they have given us with the wedding.  However, his real mom is a strong, Italian Catholic woman and I have a feeling she is going to be difficult to control if she feels slighted, especially with a few drinks in her (we are not serving liquor specifically to make sure no one gets out of hand)
When it comes to seating, his side of the family is basically divided into 2 teams and I feel like anything I do will be wrong.  We are having a pretty traditional reception at Leu Gardens, catered by Arthurs....is it wrong to let the seating be a free-for-all?

I suggest using a seating chart just so there won't be mad chaos! Or at least reserve a special table for all of the immediate family members. But ultimately it is YOUR wedding day! Everyone should accommodate for you, and not bring all that drama!

Do a seating chart!!! Since you know how ithe family is divided, you know how to seat them. It is going to be such a hard thing to do... and I can relate because my parents are divorced and they HATE each other, but honestly, they need to be adults and realize that they are at a wedding and just suck it up for one night. Hopefully the family wont get too out of hand, but just incase it does, a seating chart will be EXTREMELY worth while. Good luck!

[QUOTE]A seating chart is not required. We actually just had 2 reserved tables and let our family members know which table was for them and then all of the other tables were open seating.

    This is exactly my plan!
