Outdoor Wedding Colors for Spring 2011

I have been trying to pick out my wedding colors for over 3 months and still can't pick!  I am getting married outdoors at a country club in the spring in the early afternoon.  With only about 60 guests I really wanted a more casual, relaxed feel.  I'm really struggling to pick colors that reflect the springtime, but also look casual and include white (I'm dead set on wearing white flowers in my hair with a white bouquet).  Can anyone help?

  • Pick the colors you love.  Just because your wedding is in a certain season does not mean your wedding has to reflect it.

  •  This website gave me some great ideas.

Head to Lowes or Home Depot and play with the paint chips. Pick up colors you like. Those paint chips will also help your vendors. Pick up some extras and hand them to your florist, your baker, and anyone else who may be coordinating/ providing something for your wedding (your idea of sage green may be different than someone else's).
  • I agree. Start with colors you love. This day should be about you and your groom- the things you like.. keep it personal!
I will be doing pinks and greens for a spring wedding next year

How about some traditional French country colors?  White, cobalt blue and sunny yellow?  Yellow gingham looks fresh and adorable against a blue and white toile for table fabrics.  Add in crisp white napkins, and you've got the start of a really cute reception that's welcoming, not stuffy.
  • We are having our wedding in Spring, 2011 also, and were originally going to go with orange and green as our colors. Then my fiance found color swatches in a magazine of cherry pink and lime green and we fell in love with them. My favorite flower is the gerbera daisy, which actually grows in a cherry pink hue, so we're planning on having a lot of pink daisys around as natural decor. Our wedding is outdoors also (in my parent's backyard), so I wanted to keep the decor very natural and vibrant!
  • FI and I sat around for about a month or so discussing colors, themes... etc.  We finally each chose 2 of our favorite colors, and then paired them up to see which ones worked best, that way we each had a say.  In the end we chose a pink/green theme.  We're having our ceremony in my parents' backyard and the party will be at a Marriott.  Ceremony decor will be natural (given where we're having it) and the colors will shine at our reception. Have fun, choose colors that represent both of you :)

  • Here is the link to a site with over 100 different colors you can choose from. I picked my colors by using this site. I ended up choosing coral and Pantone turquoise, and I'm having an outdoor wedding next May.

First of all, don't stress about how long it takes you to decide on colors. I was engaged for more than a year before I finally decided on colors (which was 5 months before the wedding)!!

Just an idea, if you're looking for spring colors that aren't too bold, think about doing what I did. I'm doing pink and green, but I'm doing several shades of each. Anywhere from french pink to hot pink, and a lighter lime green to a bright lime green. I've basically chosen a small scope of shades and I just stay within that range. I think this would make your color search a little less stressful.

  • I'm getting married in the spring but my colors are navy blue and red, chose the colors that you like and don't worry it took me 3 months to pick my site!
